Cyber said Dorsey because that is ideally who the Rockets would have liked to move.

Well to be fair, it was very, very obvious that minus a trade to move someone else that wasn't in the rotation, Black and Dorsey were the two players that were being evaluated to be waived or moved. It was incredibly obvious when McHale put Dorsey ahead of Black the other night to get a better look at him. Obviously they were looking at something for a reason.

Bimathug was pretty confident from the beginning that Black would probably be the one to go given the salary cap implications.

Dorsey is a better defensive player.

It's a shame that Capela is so raw.

he looks like he might be a good shot-blocker given some time.

Capela better be ready to get some burn in the second half of the season. I guarantee you that an injury will almost surely happen at some point, and he's going to be needed to contribute at times as a 3rd option rim protector.

He needs to not worry about his offense right now and just get ready to play NBA defense in a team concept, and learn where to be to get the hell out of the way on offense. He can develop his offense in the offseason. We might really need his paint protection after February. Hopefully not, but I assume Dwight, Smith, and D-Mo will need some rest at some point.

Dorsey can help some this season still but he doesn't have the length and height against some matchups. I wouldn't be shocked at all if we get some Capela sightings after February.

I'm guessing at the end it was always going to be Black because of the higher likelihood that he'd get claimed off waivers. Sucks, but it had to be done. Good luck Tarik!

I'm shocked they didn't keep Black over Dorsey to save a few million.

Black isn't all that bro. They felt Dorsey's contract combine with the other assets is more important later on for the future I suppose.

We need the salaries for trade flexibility and we couldn't afford to have almost a million more dollars of dead weight on the cap if we released Dorsey. Dorsey would have most likely cleared waivers and we would've had to eat his whole salary. And if we make another trade we're likely to be pushing up against the apron. Releasing Dorsey simply limits our trade flexibility too much.

It's just a small indicator that we ain't done yet boys and girls. Expect another move(s) at some point between now and the deadline.

Lately Dorsey showed more on defense than Black + we didn't really use either and certainly won't need em now. Dorsey is at least some salary they can throw in any deal at the deadline.

I'm not, this isn't about the million dollars, it's all about the cap number.

As we've seen in recent years it can often be a ballet to stay under certain cap numbers. To have 1 million of dead money on the cap next year, while not a lot in the grand scheme of NBA money, it can be a lot when it comes to those last few dollars that may force you over a certain threshold.

Oh............and the Dorsey signing coming back to haunt them as well....

I still maintain just as I did then that there was something going on trade-wise following the Bosh debacle that caused Morey to agree to these signings so quickly. Some sort of trade that didn't go down that would have sent out most of our depth. There is no other explanation for Morey signing these 3 guys this quickly when they or other players of similar ilk would have been available later.

The decision to waive Black is not about the $1M in cash or cap hit. This decision is about making Dwight Howard happy. The Rockets have now hired Dwight's buddies Josh Smith and Josh Powell. Of course they are not going to risk pissing off Dwight by waiving Dwight's brother Joey Dorsey.

You really shouldn't take Carl Herrera's posts seriously. Morey would've signed Josh Smith for $2mil regardless of who's on the team.
