    Let mchale decide

Since mchale is calling the shots on who plays, I think you just let him choose who he would play more between black and Dorsey.

Dorsey's been pretty good defensively when he plays. I think right now, he offers more than Black. Is like to see Black, Nick, and Clint in RGV if possible. Tough call. Glad Morey knows what he's doing.

If you can trade Dorsey without giving up too much, you do it. His guaranteed money will continue to harm us more than his defense will help

He could be put on an NFL IR, but he'd have to clear MLB waivers before we could get him back.

Yeah seriously, I'm sure he could at least guard a shorter tree.

Capela + Johnson + the NY pick to Milwaukee for Henson.

we got a decent back up center and also create a roster spot for Smith

Not sure if this is possible but couldn't we just give a player to Philly instead of waiving them. I don't want the Mavs or Cavs to get a post presence by picking up Black or Dorsey. Couldn't we just give the Philly Dorsey for a 1st round pick top 25 protected. Unless Philly finishes as a top 5 team in the league then we don't get their pick. I'd rather Hinkie owe us a favor than solidify a potential playoff opponent.

This, I said it bf mavs are gonna go after black or Dorsey if we cut them. I'd rather trade either rather than cutting any.

I'm all for delaying signing Josh Smith until we trade one our bigs to stop Dallas from picking up a big.

Although I wouldn't be opposed to them picking up Joey "Trojan Horse" Dorsey

If Rockets waive Dorsey and another team picks him up, don't they pay the rest of his salary? He would have to clear waivers before he can sign as a free agent. With his salary, i think some team will pick him up before clearing waivers. It is only 900k.

I think that's only for waiver wire pickups. Smith's currently a FA

This is likely Morey’s Plan B, similar to how Brewer was his Plan B while he pursued Dragic. At this point, it’s probably something like “Black to Philly for our own 2nd rounder back” on the table. But Morey is still shopping Dorsey for capspace because he makes more and has an extra year.

Why all the concern about Dallas picking up Black? Black has been barely serviceable. It isn't like putting on a Mavs jersey will stop him from dropping the ball and missing layups so often. Is he that much more of an improvement over Greg Smith who is on the Mvs roster?

Release him, if he doesn't get picked up signing him to RVG.

It's turned out to be a good thread, but when it starts with people claiming the Rockets will get a first-round draft pick in exchange for the last player on their bench it reminds me of some lame fantasy leagues I've played in.

If the rockets plan to go all in and win it all this season is based on how to stop the Mavs getting a big, we may as well fire Morey and rebuild form the ground.

    Are you kidding?

You are worrying black or Dorsey will solidify a potential playoff opponent?

Morey will be thrilled to know Dorsey or black will play 20 minutes for any playoff contenders.

All of this talk about fearing Black or Dorsey in a Mavs uni is hilarious. Have folks watched them play?

Damn I miss Asik, even with his pouting.

It's amazing how often home town fans overvalue their bench players... People saying they wouldn't trade Capella or johnson or Canaan for anything than a first round pick is HILARIOUS. Players like this are littered throughout EVERY TEAM IN THE LEAGUE. People are enamored with unknown potential... Its the classic "backup QB" syndrome.

The only one I care at all for is Canaan, mainly bc Bev has shown an inability to stay healthy and Canaan has showed some promise in his place. That said if the only deal you have to free up room for Smith is swapping Canaan for a 2nd you make that move and don't think twice.
