Few GMs have the cojones that Morey does. I was re-reading some of the pre Harden acquisition articles. "Daryl Morey, The Genius Who Outsmarted Himself," what a gem. Hopefully Phoenix decides to open the bank, but I think most in this thread are vastly over-rating the possibility of that happening.
Naw. Boston not trading Olynyk for anything short of a superstar. Now.....Sully as part of a package for Bledsoe????? possibly. Maybe they get Frye back???? Dragic brothers here? Frye/Canaan and our 2016 first and a second to PHX? Kostas/Capela to Orlando?
Except for the untraceable 2016, why not? I agree Ainge isn't giving KO up easily. I'm just suggesting him as someone PHX might try/want to target.
Yeah, but by all accounts Phoenix is not looking for a rebuild, they're looking to add to the core and compete with what they have, and in all honesty they have more talent that those rockets teams had. I don't think anyone was as good as Goran and Bledsoe are today. The first one is still an all-nba guard and the second one of the best two way players at his position. They also have some good developing prospects and a few high picks coming their way, so their potential isn't exactly capped as it stands.
Absolutely they'd want him. As would half the teams in the league. I think we should consider that Bledsoe could possibly be the guy traded. Possibly.
Guys, I can't really bug people today to find out! Sorry - just can't hit up guys today! Stein is right though... They are willing to part with any of those guys mentioned. He tried to hit up Cuban though... It was a funny convo per my peeps.
LOL. Of course he did. He's a smart guy with balls too. He should be commended for having the guts to call him about this. Look, Morey knows that if Dorsey or Black are cut, Cuban will pick either of those guys up because of the gapping hole they have behind Chandler. If he makes it look like he might move someone like Nick Johnson to Philly and keep Black/Dorsey, maybe he can convince the Mavs, or another team needing a backup 5 to give up a second rounder for either guy. Its a longshot, but might as well try. Rule of thumb should be to NEVER help the Mavs. Releasing Black or Dorsey and allowing the Mavs to fill a position of need for nothing isn't good for the Rockets. Try to make him pay something for what you got.

Morey is "cold-blooded" that way. As long as it potentially can benefit the team, he would talk to anyone, even one who wants to defeat him. Remember after we decided not to match Parsons, he hit up Cuban and asked to do a sign-and-trade with DAL? Of course, Cuban refused. But it's just part of due diligence for Morey. Well, this last conversation, there probably was a bit of gloating and rubbing it in kinda. Morey: "Hi Mark, you may have heard we got a power forward coming over to sign with us. I noticed you gave away your back-up center recently. You want ours, before another team gets them?"
Morey is very smart in that he is willing to trade one of his 5 in order to increase his chance of getting some value out of his spare parts of his roster in very limited time. Of course, I think he would assign a different value for each player. He just needs one team to bite. My value on them Canaan - late first Dorsey -mid second Black - mid second Johnson - early second Capela - late first Hopefully one team would bite, and the highest bidder gets the present.
After McD's comments, curious as to what is up his sleeve. He wants an all-star big man 25 or under. So does every other team in the league. The only thing I can figure is that whatever god he prays to he is praying Cousins becomes available. I cannot fathom the Cavs trading Love. They have to at least give it one playoff run. So this leads me to the one star I believe can be had SeƱor Anthony. He may not fit the age range but he could make one last Olympic appearance and give the Suns that all-star who could attract free agents like Jimmy did with Dwight. I will present a basis for a three way. I know you want to keep D so I kept him out. Green could come along with the brothers but Terry or Shved would have to go. As I said this is just a basis as there are a lot of players that can be moved around.I enjoy reading the clutch board and look forward to your thoughts. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=o7gapqq
