His stats this season 21.7 ppg, 3.3 apg, 6.2 rpg 48% FG, and 34.2% 3pt in 40 minutes per game. He's also getting to the line 8.2 times per game. With all the improvement in his offense, his defense hasn't been as good which could be attributed to playing 40 mpg while having such a large carry of the offense. His defensive RPM last season was around 1.29 and it's at 0.25 this season (USING ESPN's metrics) His offensive RPM last season was 0.90 and it's 3.96 this season (behind only Harden and Lou Williams among SG) I don't think his offensive numbers will turn inefficient as Paul George's did last season after his hot start. Unlike PG, Jimmy is getting to the line ALOT this season. His scoring numbers will probably go down a bit once Rose starts getting into the rhythm of everything. But when this happens, I expect his defense to get back to his usual level. Where would you rank him among players this season?
he's the #2 SG in the nba, amongst all players, he's probably deserving of being in the top 25 or so, and top 10 so far on the year. (I'm sure people will mention Klay, but all he really does is filter to Bogut with discipline, so without Bogut his defense has been horribly lacklustre, and his offense would disappear without Steph as well, Butler on the other hand has been carrying a lot of the load through quite a few injuries and doing it pretty damn admirably)
Love his story. He stayed at one of my friend's house in Tomball after his mom kicked him out. He kept going from house to house, and eventually wound up in Marquette. H Town Represent!
Probably a top 10 MVP candidate to date this year....without Butler the Bulls are in serious trouble record wise. He is the reason the Bulls are still chugging along while they figure out how to get Rose & Noah going.
I think he's been Chicago's best player so far this season. Remarkable improvement from year to year which suggests that he works hard on his game. I think he's a top five SG in the NBA right now.
His adopted mom is kinda milfy, tbh. I wonder what his birth mother is thinking, seeing the son she kicked out as a 13 year old become one of the top young NBA players and makes millions. He probably wants nothing to do with her.
Top 15 talent. I was reading I believe a Zach Lowe article & word was he will likely command a MAX contract...
Between him and Klay Thompson, just because SG position is weak, there's only one superstar (James Harden). I don't count Wade and Kobe, they're past their prime.
Rising 2 guard in the top 5 at his position. I haven't seen him play much but the numbers and highlights make a compelling case for MIP.
This season? Good enough for some fool GM to overpay and wind up with another Joe Johnson caliber "franchise" player.
