Do you have to make reservations weeks in advance for lunch? What about the wine bar can you just drop in and have tapas? The goat dumplings sound interesting.
Royal is a Houston institution among the Pakistani community here. If you go there and order the wrong thing (like palak paneer or chicken tikka masala), that's your fault. Grilled chicken tikka on the bone, beef Bihari kebab, karahi chicken, seekh kebabs...this is what you should be ordering at Royal.
Underbelly is where Chances used to be. My house is about 1/4 mile away. The lesbians were much more interesting than the snobby yuppies that have replaced them. I'm allergic to d-bags showing off their Ferraris. The neighborhood is going to hell.
I didn't see it online but caught part of it while doing laundry. Here is the Travel Channel page on it. http://www.travelchannel.com/tv-shows/bizarre-foods/episodes/houston-blast-and-cast
I have no idea what royal is, but considering balla is posting its got to be some dirty paki joint. There's a reason why zimmern chose rajas over whatever the hell royal is.
Not quite. Just incredibly confused why saladballa would come out and say he should've gone to some Pakistani restaurant that nobody has ever heard of over the Indian restaurant that the host of the show actually went to. Then later goes on to say don't order specific dishes that are on the freaking menu at this said restaurant.
What is the best Pakistani or North Indian (meat, none of this vegetarian stuff) restaurant in Htown? It's been so long since I lived there that I can't remember.
Hyde Park? I used to live next to the Half Price Books, Commonwealth? and Yoakum? It's been 15 years...
Himalaya is pretty good for what you are asking. Also, regarding the Royal vs. Raja question, I don't understand how they even compare. They offer and specialize in different cuisines. Both places are definitely worth a visit. It is idiotic to make this an Indian vs. Pakistani thing.
I stopped going once I got fed up with the low quality greasy food. It has a name but I'm not really sure why when there are many much better places all over town. One even across the street.
Had dinner again at Underbelly tonight. Yet again, amazing. I have yet to taste anything here that wasn't great. Service was a bit down tonight though.
