Same could be said about good players playing out of position for garbage teams. Ariza here the first time remember?
Does this mean our trade to clear a roster spot will include a pf If so. Do we give up jones or dmo. If it is dmo I think Boston is in play. What you guys think? Just read a snippet of Boston and Cavs trying to do a THREE WAY Maybe Morey can get a peice of that Rocket River
I haven't seen it put this way yet (I have been religiously sifting through all of these threads). But, sorry if it has. Agree or disagree? Josh Smith fills the Chandler Parsons void much better than the Ariza comparisons we have all had to live with so far this season. Parsons was a guy who gained so much value in our system due to its spacing and tempo while being a true 3 who could spend a small chunk of mins at the 4. He ran the floor well, was a decent finisher at the rim, and took and hit wide open 3s at a decent clip (pretty streaky shooter). I think Smith brings those exact skills to the table, major difference being that he is a true 4 who can give some small/limited chunks at the 3. Before I get flamed on the 3 point shooting...let's not act like we all don't know that shooting open, set shot jumpers is much different (easier) than shooting jumpers off the dribble/creating them yourself. I think he will shoot the 3 at a respectable clip, especially playing his natural position at PF. There are plus and minuses here and there in a couple of areas...Parson being a better FT shooter, but Smith giving us another defensive dimension. But, this move fills a void. Like it or not, a void which needed to be filled. Ariza has been great...but he just flat out does different things. DMo has been great, but I think better suited off the bench. And best of all...the lineup possibilities are endless!

He has been absolute crap this year playing for a bottom feeder. If he just plays his role, which is to defend and rebound, he will help. If not, such a garbage player.
Flat out wrong? He was option 2a or 2b. You're arguing semantics. He's not a go to player on the Rockets either. You can't give him the ball and expect him to score. He can, but he won't do it efficiently. Ariza and Smith will likely take a similar amount of shots. Anyway let me know when you figure out the definition of a "go to" player, then we can continue babbling about which option he was on a prior team. (Here's a hint: it doesn't matter)
Dear Rockets fans, Trevor Ariza, Corey Brewer, and Josh Smith combined will cost about the same amount of money this year as the one and only Chandler Parsons. It's amazing how that one off season move (or non-move) of not keeping Chandler Parsons has allowed the Rockets to acquire 3 impact players. A good lesson in staying optimistic and turning lemons into lemonade! Ariza - 6mil Brewer - 4mil Smith - 2mil Parsons - 16 mil..... Morey damn sure knows how to work the NBA market. RESPECT TO THE CHUBBY GOD!
