Really good point. We simply haven't made it tough enough on him. We've never had a 4 that put him on his heals. If Smith regains his form, he's got a chance to be a real help.
" The Rockets had a history with Smith, including a free-agent pursuit in 2013 that factored significantly into Smith’s choice of Houston over the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and Memphis Grizzlies." Typical morey move. sits down with players even if he knows we are not signing them, but if anything happen he established that relationship. Morey is a genius.
Yep people have no idea. With Bev and Howard already known as the teams defensive jugs. Then hardens obviously very improved D and top in steals this San. Ariza is no slouch either. Then we have brewer who is actually leading the league in steals. Then on top of that we add josh smith. Our starting 5 all has great defense and our sixth man Cory brewer is also awesome. Then either dorsy and black are good and dmo can hold his own. Terry isn't horrid either.

This is precisely why as a GM you do your due diligence. It is why Morey agreed to do that phone conversation with Rich Paul (LeBron's Agent) even though it was a long shot. Relationships.
Nobody is an LMA stopper. But Josh Smith can contest more without fouling and clear the glass better than D-Mo. This is true even considering D-Mo's improved defense.
Yessss Such a great signing. I just hope DMo is OK with coming off the bench. He should still get plenty of minutes since he can back up 2 positions.
Why wouldn't he?. We've gave him this opportunity and developed him. If it wasent for jones getting hurt he would still be on the bench. I'm sure he will still get a lot of minutes at pf and c
Cuban has to be crapping himself. He though he got the upper hand by signing Parsons and trading for Rondo, while sacrificing his team's offensive flow and bench. Morey responded with Ariza then Brewer and Smith, for cap room and a couple of non rotational players/ 2nd round picks. With the possibility to do more this season.
I think what he's trying to say is we have to realese somebody to make room for smith and if we got some pick instead of a full out release it would work put better
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>James Harden called Josh Smith "a great player." Harden: "He’s a great talent. He’s been an All Star. He does so many things well."</p>— Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) <a href="https://twitter.com/Jonathan_Feigen/status/547839374985940992">December 24, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Awkward, since Smith has never been an all star. He's been snubbed a few years though..
I remember Morey once said he interviews even top picks knowing the Rockets will never get them, simply as a way to gain familiarity with the prospect because you never know. The guy if nothing else is complete. You never know when such networking may come in handy.
can someone tell me what our option are in the offseason as far as re-signing smith goes? do we have bird rights? i assume no. if not, then do we have to reach into our MLE to pay him?
