In regards to DMo, I think it actually helps him. He only does well with Howard not on the floor since he can operate the post. You move him to the second unit and he becomes the focal point of offense in that second unit. He still gets his 30 minutes a game and we have a legit second unit.
Just curious, is there still any other possibility besides 76ers picks him off the pool before he clears waiver that can screw this up?
All good points, and more or less, this is how I feel as well. I’m a huge fan of DMo and think he’s become a legit 2 way player - I think this might stunt his growth a bit, which concerns me. But, if you can bring in a guy of Smith’s caliber, on essentially, a minimum deal, you’d be foolish not to. Defensively, though, is where this could be a huge boon for us. If he can be half the player he was in ATL on the defensive side of the ball, then no one will be able to score on us in the interior. That, in itself, should make any Rockets fan excited.
This. Under $2 million just to stick it to Cuban is money well spent. You know Les and Morey were celebrating grinching Cuban's Christmas.
