Why would Memphis be a threat? Don't worry cfers. We can offer more. Offer a bigger role, and it's not cold here. Oh and his best friend plays here.
Memphis: "J-SMOOVE! Huge fans, how about you join us at the Grindhouse?" Smith: "Can you offer more than the vet min?" Memphis: "No" Smith: "Am I guaranteed to start?" Memphis: "Sure...if you agree to play the 3 spot!" Smith: "...um...no...kthxbye"
Its not the worst thing the Rockets could do. On monday early on i didn't want Smith but, at only 2 million, you cant beat it. And like you said, this will move DMo to the second team, and that is wonderful. DMo, Dorsey, Brew, Terry, Shved/Canaan, is a darn good second unit
Memphis, IMO, is just trying in order we don't get him. They know that we will finally be able to match up appropriately to the PF's in the league (namely Zbo). This lineup will not be stopped. I'm a firm believer that Josh Smith will play pick and roll ball with harden making a drive from Harden result in either 2 points for Harden, Lob to Smith, or pass to Smith Dwight's defender comes over to help then lob to Dwight. Maybe I'm a little too excited about this, but I did want JSmith before he went to Detroit.
Yeah I mean look at MEM's track record on talent and risk evaluation and how theyre questionable PF aquistion worked out.
I want to say Smith was also a Rockets fan before he got in the NBA. I really want him and will be pissed if he spurns us.
Seeing is believing Don't get too excited otherwise you will get really disappointed if he chose not to come here. It is almost lock for Bosh to come here until the last second that Miami took away from US. Nothing is locked until he signed.
I think it would be funny if smith picked the mavs over us because of rondo. Would be pretty awkward for Howard. Also, screw off Memphis!
Memphis' frontcourt is even more crowded than Detroit's, but they're actually a great team with chemistry. It'd be appealing to play there even if not as a starter. I still think we make the most sense for him.
