We will know after playoff then. Morey is too afraid to lose his power to run his own vision of the team.
the players (harden/howard) must believe in McHale and he has shown amazing growth this year as a coach. I think he lets his assts do their job more now than ever and looks to really just get through to the players and try to get the most out of them. Most guys who have been coached by McHale - you never really hear a bad thing about him from them. I dont think he is the best Xs and Os coach, but I am sure he can find someone who is to help him, but being able to relate to players and get through to them is a far rarer and more valuable skill. Phil Jackson won 11 rings as a coach that way.
$4.3 mil a year for a coach is a good deal. Morey knows that. If/When we make the playoffs and have success this postseason McHale's value will skyrocket. Have people seen how much teams are paying for the likes of Derek Fisher?
LOL totally different situation but if that works for you, great! I'm saying, the guy hasn't proven anything yet other then the respect of players. You say you want to retain a coach if he doesn't get us out of the 1st round this year?

Parents will not want to send their free agents off to play in Houston if there is instability in leadership.
This is a really Rick Smith like move for Morey. I'm disappointed, really hoping this doesn't back fire like it does for Rick Smith and the Texans Could be a Les Alexander decision, kinda like JLin's signing...........
