Something seems seriously bizarre about this move by the Pistons. Let's first make sure he passes the physical, and more importantly, the...mental tests as well. LOL. Regardless of the varying opinions here, I think that the bottomline is that adding him would be still be a positive.
Thorpe made a good point when he said it was an emotional decision. SVG made a GM move as a head coach.
The logic is fine. Scoring can be influenced by who you play with (although not unfair to suggest Motie has been a 2nd or 3rd option in most of his starting games). Rebounds, steals, blocks will translate. I dont understand your logic? If Smith is here as starting PF he will put up 7+rpg. Most likely score more than 11ppg. He just always does. Guy isnt a superstar, i agree, but Motie isnt even Markieff Morris... he is developing, and will be great for him to backup D12 and Jsmoov.
How do Dwight's and Smith's game mesh? Obviously they are good friends, but I'm afraid they'll clog the paint offensively?
The same was said about DH and DMo when dwight returned from his injury. So it can be done. We just need to decide " ally oop from the left or right side"?
He simply plays the Terrence Jones role, except better because he has the vision to pass out to open shooters.
Are we ok with Smith starting? I would be only okay with signing Smith provided he comes off the bench.
You start him. Dmo then could have all the touches in the paint with the second unit. Dmo black brewer terry cannan
This. The one area where TJ is probably better is the handle... However, Josh is a great garbage man next to Howard, great weak side shotblocker, can guard traditional fours but also has the foot speed to move out to cover small ball fours and perimeter player on the switch... Basically, all the things that we are missing with TJ out, and that is when TJ is on to his game...
Maybe its because the popular opinion realizes there's a diff between signing a dude at 13M and getting that same dude for 2-3M per year. I think its hilarious you wanted him at his original price lol. Regarding Smith he was put in the worst possible place for him in Detroit, he was playing on the perimeter and the pistons played slowed down half court offense he should fit way better here since he'll be playing close to the basket and his mid range isnt as bad as his 3, at that range him and Howard will probably get the reb if he clanks it anyway. A big man rotation of DMo Smith and Howard would be the best in the league.
