it's okay if you struggle to follow along, but don't go hurling insults because of your shortcomings.
Haha, exactly! We're not going anywhere in the West, might as well roll the dice. If it works it'll help us out a ton.
Well at least you used "you're" rather than "your", gotta give you that. Anyway, I urge you to use the ignore feature so that this can end, I honestly don't want you seeing my comments and feeling the need to respond to them. While you're doing that, consider why Josh Smith's offensive rating is 94.6 (in case you don't know, that's BAD) this season despite his points per game. Have fun.
"Smith's biggest problem as a player is that he somehow doesn't realize how laughably terrible he is on offense. In Houston, he should be the 6th option on offense if he's in the starting 5. If we could ensure that he never, ever had the ball, ever on offense, and could make him and Dwight no longer be friends, then I'd support picking him up." Oh, and this is productive? Yeah, right- typical hypocrite who thinks he knows more than everyone else and doesn't realize his own shortcomings.
Repeating myself again but: Threes account for about 10% of shots taken for Josh Smith. You can live with that. Two point FGA from 16 feet to the three point line are the killer. They are 26% of shots taken. He hits at 35%. It's a much bigger drag on production than the threes. Compare with DMo, for whom 19% (nearly 2x the percentage) are threes which he hits at a similar rate (24% for Smith, 28% for DMo). But DMo takes only 2% of shots from 16 feet to the three point line vs 26% for Smith. From what I can tell, Harden takes the most long 2's, and they still only account for 14% of total shots taken, vs Smith's 26%. Stats are from basketball-reference.com, BTW. From a ts% standpoint, those long 2's are a much greater drag on efficiency than the threes. Cut those out and he is instantly a much better player. If you can live with DMo taking the occasional 3, you can live with Smith doing the same, as long as he doesn't take the long 2's.
Look...I have nothing against you personally. You seem smart enough...it's just that your arguments make zero sense to me...every point you make is taken to hyperbole, when at face value it would be enough to make a point. I enjoy all points of view, and hope to learn from others. I won't be "ignoring" you on here, bc this is an isolated topic. Outside of the personal jabs I took at you, try and see my point. I'll leave things alone, as it's making for boring, repetative, dialogue. If, and when Smith plays great, I'll be sure to say "hi".
One of the key features of this discussion involves one side thinking you can just bury someone on the bench or cut them if chemistry problems occur. Guess what. At that point chemistry problems have already affected the team a great amount. Inefficient chucker who has his best defensive and athletic days behind him. Modern day Antoine Walker.
Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think I know more than anyone, I think I'm saying things that should be obvious to everyone. It's not some secret knowledge that I have, it's available to everyone and I thought it was widely known. Josh Smith is awful on offense, water is wet, fire is hot. Fair enough, I'll take that chance but for the record, I hope he finally learns to be a good player and helps the Rockets out.
Guys. Look at Ariza's shooting %'s. Look at Papanikolau's. Consider Black and Dorsey's offensive contributions (or lack thereof). And you guys are scared of Smith taking a couple long jumpers per game? His best and most efficient years came playing alongside Horford and Joe Johnson. Josh knows how to take a backseat on offense when he's on a team with talent, and even ignoring his shooting he can still be a contributor as a defender, facilitator, and rebounder. And if wants to come here, he's only going to cost $2MM! C'mon guys.
Is Josh Smith really that much better than TJOnes?? Smith is older, and in decline. TJones is like 24, and still developing!!
Reading this thread from page 1. Laughing hysterically at DD and Bobby. It serves his Buzz Killington narrative. +1
No one knows. Maybe a few weeks, maybe a few months. Those nerve injuries are nasty and they heal when they heal. It's hard to have an accurate timetable.
