Step 1: Break up the Dwight-Josh friendship Step 2: Sign Josh Step 3: Cut Josh and Dwight won't be mad because they aren't friends
FWIW, here's a table showing Josh Smith's Regularized Adjusted Plus Minus ("RAPM" or as ESPN calls it "Real Plus Minus" or "RPM"), for each of the last few seasons and the first part of this season: Spoiler <style type="text/css"> table.tableizer-table { border: 1px solid #CCC; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; } .tableizer-table td { padding: 4px; margin: 3px; border: 1px solid #ccc; } .tableizer-table th { background-color: #104E8B; color: #FFF; font-weight: bold; } </style><table class="tableizer-table"> <tr class="tableizer-firstrow"><th></th><th>Offense</th><th>Defense</th><th>Total</th></tr> <tr><td>2010-11</td><td>-0.2</td><td>4.8</td><td>4.6</td></tr> <tr><td>2011-12</td><td>1.3</td><td>4.9</td><td>6.2</td></tr> <tr><td>2012-13</td><td>0</td><td>3.3</td><td>3.3</td></tr> <tr><td>2013-14</td><td>0.83</td><td>2.39</td><td>3.22</td></tr> <tr><td>2014-15</td><td>-2.73</td><td>2.87</td><td>0.14</td></tr> </table> According to this stat, at least, Josh Smith has made a very positive impact on his team up until this season. He is a highly impactful defender, even in Detroit. Not many non-centers put up defensive RAPM like this. Also, up until this season, he is fairly neutral to at team's offense-- horrible shooting balanced out by good passing ability and the ability to finish at the rim. It's not crazy to want him on your team at all. He'll help you with defense, and help you win as long as you find ways to work around his bad jump shooting.
lol Agree to disagree. Apologize as I have been a juror since last week and did mean to be as argumentative as I was. Merry Xmas to you and your family.
No worries, I don't mind argument when it is productive and intelligent. I still disagree with your take, but I hope you end up right.
How do you know he won't be? Defensive stats are influence by who you play with. Good defenders playing next to good defenders will look like even better defenders. etc. Possibly he wouldn't be the best defensive PF - but hard to judge if he hasn't been in the system
Smith is attempting 1.3 3pt shots per game this season. Why are you fixated on his 3 point shooting ?
this lol even if it doesnt work out, he costs us nothing. It's a small gamble with potentially VERY high reward.
If we cut Josh, we can always hire him to be Dwight's assistant or something (like Josh Powell). Seriously we will need to preserve Dwight's knees for the playoffs. Another experienced big who fits our position of need is a God-send at this point.
Oh it's not just 3 pointers, but he is one of the worst 3 point shooters that thinks he can hit 3 pointers to ever play the game. The problem is that he chucks up 14 shots a game with an eFG% of 40.3%
At this point, you must be a troll. Your sheer lack of basketball knowledge is bordering on ridiculous. I doubt that you've ever watched Smith play...your hatred or whatever seems misplaced and exaggerated...you make no sense with your analysis of his abilities. A player in the NBA who averages 15ppg, 4 assists...is a -8 offensively. He was paid over $10 million a year bc he's a very good player...not some scrub who can only dunk and shoot errant 3 pointers. Ordinarily I'd let things lie, but you're a joke. Either you're drunk, simple-minded, or, like I suggested, a troll. Stop clogging the forum with your turd thoughts.
Im calling it. If we get the dude its an automatic championship. Our roster is unreal right now. Add Josh and if T-Jones gets healthy we will be by far the deepest team in the league. We can pull a Kentucky and Platoon dat ass.
