I'm all for this acquisition of Josh Smith. Can get him for cheap so low risk and it can be low to high reward. My question is if we get Josh Smith who do we cut? We have a bunch of guards now, but I'd rather trade them then cut them. As far as the bigs Tarik Black is a rook so I want to see how he can develop. Dorsey would be the more obvious option but he has a two year guaranteed contract and probably a better defender then Black. Hate to say it but I'd probably cut Black since he is more of a PF and you still have the possibility of Jones coming back. Hope Black clears waivers and then maybe sign him to RGV
Certainly, if he could learn to be a completely different player than he's been his entire career then I'd be all for bringing him in for depth off the bench.
Players like Josh Smith fit in perfectly when they have a MVP-level player on their team and a coach they respect. I'm telling you, this is ideal for him. If he comes to this team, he's got a close friend, the potential MVP of the league on his team, and a former big man as his coach. This is a no-brainer, as nearly everyone has said- Beverley and Ariza are also guys Smith can respect b/c they play D- something he didn't always get on other teams. Shot blockers like playing on good defensive teams. I think when he looks at everything, he'd look at Houston as a favorite but also consider the Mavs and the Clippers.
It would probably be pretty hard to dig himself out of the hole from the Pistons. Let's thing this over and revisit!
Every time you post, I just imagine Debbie Downer on the other side of that computer. You've got to be the most negative poster on the board. Lighten up!

I don't even see the Mavs as a threat to sign him. The Clippers are the only team that worries me, but the Rockets have the best friend and most money available cards to put down.
No, this was the exact quote: "The point that I'm trying to make people realize is that he hasn't played at a higher level than Black or Dorsey this season." Umm, yes, he has. On his worst day, he makes Joey Dorsey look like Joey Buttafuoco.
Can we get a tipjar kickstarter going to change DD's "Contributing Member" to "The Skip Bayless of ClutchFans"?
