The trick is when they first start talking to you pull a wildcard and just put your handgun on your lap. Then when they start to ask you about it, shoot them in the face.

No one has ever tried to speak to me while eating, or anywhere else, for that matter. I'm even including corporate or industry mixers. When I lived in the rural midwest, everyone I crossed paths with made eye contact and said "hi," but that was pretty much about it. I'm surpised a business owner/manager (?) is that averse to building relationships.
