Yeah, exactly. I mean we saw how much it changed last year for Houston in the playoffs, sure the Rockets beat the Trailblazers in the regular season, but in the playoffs it was like once they focused on Harden it was over. Sure Howard played awesome, but if Daniels didn't hit that shot we'd be done in 5 games... It's like trying to explain to someone how we beat the Spurs 4-0 in the regular season but realistically had no shot of beating them if we saw them in the playoffs last year.
big beverly fan. but i was always a believer that he's at his best on a championship team off the bench where all his strengths are put to use and there's nothing wrong with that. dragic/beverly at pg is a winning combo and set imo.
It's gonna happen....... I expect this to happen...... I want this to happen because this makes The Rockets better...... Any moment now.....
Nobody can really stop those guys, but Dmo defense is really under rated. His defense is head and shoulders better than Terrence Jones who got torched by those guys. Dmo hasn't got torched by anybody he has held his own quite well.
Ya, that Grantland article is a bit of a headscratcher. In general I' pretty much agree with everything Zac Lowe says - he's a true basketball nut and makes solid observations about teams. I agree with everything he says about the Rockets here but the ranking of 6th is a bit too low in my book - especially considering he doesn't apply the same doubt to teams higher on the list(San Antonio & OKC specifically). There is a lot of legacy "these guys have done it and if they are healthy come playoff time, they will do it again" thinking here and while I tend to think like that too, I think both San Antonio and OKC have legit concerns this season and despite a surprising win for Portland last year, I'm not sold on that team. It took multiple career high performances from Aldridge and several improbable big shots from Lillard to get by Houston last season while Harden's shot was in the gutter. I can't see those improbably circumstances happening again. Lowe does say however that any team in the top 7 could easily win the conference - that they all are capable.
I'm sure being on a cobbled-together team with too many quality bigs clogging the paint while Smoove was miscast as a 3 had nothing to do with his low percentages. The last thing you want from Josh Smith is free rein to jack long 2's.
That makes things worse. If he can't cut it on the Piston's roster, then how do you expect him to cut it in a western conference contender?
We had Lowry, we had Dragic..... They play for different teams now and we are wishing we had them back. We have Bev right now............ Lets trust him.... You know what is great? When that player on your team overcomes criticism and doubt and hate..... You know what is bittersweet? When you buy yourself a championship and try to force everything (Miami/ Dallas).... Houston has carefully made moves that have us on the brink of a championship year. Lets not hit the panic button. We have the starters, we just need a bench....... Not a Dragic/Bev combo..... Bev is fine.....
He didnt work out in Detroit as being a number one or even a number 2 option. Also, Detroit would gladly keep him if he was on a 2Mill a year deal, like the Rockets have the opportunity to do.
