Dwight is doing his part. Yeah his post game isn't elite but it still draws a double team. We also seen him go to work in the Blazer series and the year Kobe went down that year.
He actually reading double teams now and passing out the post. He has been doing a better job of that since the season started. Lets see if he can keep it up
He has screwed up Dmo's game by occupying the lane too much, they need to distribute minutes at C a bit more to get both touches in the low block. Each should have around 10 low post ops every game. DD
LOL he screwed up D-Mo's game? He's a much more proven post player than D-Mo. He did carry Orlando to the finals.
Yes he has screwed up the chemistry the team had, it needs to find a better balance, if you move DMo to the three point line he is counter productive, he is a post player, as is Dwight they both need their time in the block- make sure that one of them is on the floor at all times and when DMo is out there at center he has to get post touches. DD
LOL how so sir? Come on Dmo's production dropping is to be expected. Dwight coming back had nothing to do with that. Didn't you not watch the 1st two games when Dwight came off injury. Him and Dmo were freaking beasts in those two games. As far as the touches, that's on the coach.
Dwight looks like he is grinding it out now....and he is one of the top centers in the game in this mode. However, he has another level he can go to and he will in the playoffs. He can dominate any team at any time...but he can't do that every night thus the grid it out at a high level mode. He is an elite player.
I do not disagree with you - he should be on the floor anchoring the defense and playing the post when Dwight is out, and when they play together, playing the high post spot on the floor. That is why I think TJo is so important..... DMo can start but he is a CENTER - and is not a PF unless you have a Center like Okur that can shoot 3s...and you swap them. DD
it is expected if you make him shoot 3s instead of posting him up where he's a level or 2 ABOVE Dwight...besides that DMO showed hes a clutch player...while Dwight is liability in the last minutes
Jesus Christ... the overvaluation of D-Mo is REALLY getting out of hand here. First of all, D-Mo is not that much better in the post than Dwight. It looks a lot prettier because D-Mo is a finesse player while Dwight is not, but the results are comparable; both usually beat their man more often than not in single coverage. The advance metrics prove this as well. How defenses approach the two players is where things get cloudy; people double Howard often and foul him damn near every time to try and prevent the dunk. D-Mo rarely gets fouled and or doubled, so as a result goes to the line less (he is a much better FT shooter though) and has less chances of getting stripped as he swings around for a hook. As for clutch, are you seriously trying to say that a (we can be charitable here) 20 game stretch proves he is clutch? Things like being clutch and blossoming are proved through the course of the ENTIRE season or multiple seasons. This is how Lin crazies got in trouble, by trying to take good performance in small spans and using it as a barometer of how good a player is. D-Mo has stepped up admirably this season and has a good chance of finally breaking out, but to call him star blossoming, clutch, or good/great due to a stretch of games is absolutely r****ded.
Round of applause Tmacfor35 for sticking to your guns. Bottom Line: Nobody on our roster changes the impact of a playoff series with their presence in the paint the way Dwight does. Replace Dwight with any other post player and the opposing teams will attack the basket. Add Dwight and it's a different game and a different outcome. His greatness was displayed in the Portland series last year. If I recall his strength was his strength to fight thru double teams and players hanging on his arms while putting up shots in the post. D-mo is frail and wouldn't last a series with that style of play that D Howard brings. Defense wins championships.
Why? You did it for Lowry back in the day, and he turned out ok, right? Some folks think the same about DMo - I don't personally think he is a star, but a HUGE advantage at the center position due to his positioning and excellent post game - which opens up the perimeter for our 3pt shooters. We struggle against teams that can single cover Dwight, DMo is a better post option in those games. Either way - IMHO, he is almost untouchable due to Dwight being able to leave after next season, and DMo being a suitable replacement albeit a different player than Dwight. Centers that command double teams are VERY rare these days, and that is where DMo is headed. DD
