Maybe. Not sure who is going to take Dorsey though unless we are shedding another 2nd rounder to Philly or someone else. I don't know if that's worth it.

He only accounts for a little less than a mil next year, and with adding Josh Smith, you remove another couple mil in cap space so I don't necessarily see the Rockets making a big stink about making cap room.

My guess is that it was probably more of a tryout. They are gonna have to choose between Dorsey and Black, and we sort of know what Black is going to do on a nightly basis. Dorsey has been kinda up and down so maybe it was just about seeing a little more info to validate their decision if it comes down to that.

Neither player getting cut would surprise me at this point.

Interesting thing about these moves is the level of energy we can keep if we keep rotating like last night. We had a letdown in the 3rd like we use to most of the times, but this time it was shorter. Brewer is going to make us run like hell with our 2nd unit too.

I guess the Mavs would claim him if he's waived

I think it`s about who gets you the most in return. For the amount of minutes available for whoever stays That`s what I would do.

Seeing latest lineups in Mchale´s sleeve would not surprise me to see Smith playing some 5 running with Papa, Brewer, Terry, Shved/Canaan

i don't think they can afford 13 mil or however much it is to claim from waivers

Easily the biggest improvement for the team. This is also possibly why McHale was giving shved more burn; the sooner he gets used to our system the sooner he can take over as the 2nd guard off the bench.

Also, IIRC he was a "confidence guy" like Lin. This early playing time is certainly a step in the right direction

    Off topic from Josh Smith.

Anyone else realize James Harden leads the league in defensive win shares?

Well he's always been near the top. Last night he finally passed number 2 (who is Draymond Green).

As a huge Dmo supporter, I love the idea of Jsmoove being the starter and Dmo becoming the primary offensive weapon off the bench.

And by watching Dmo over the last few games with Dwight Howard - I think he would agree with you.

Don't forget Dwight does tend to get in foul trouble so Dmo would be looking at 30 min off the bench as the 6th man.

Plus it'll allow DH to get some much needed rest leading up to playoff time. Maybe sit a back-to-back here and there.

Right, I'm pretty sure only Philly could claim him.

The suspense of the decision, the agony of losing bosh, and hopefully the joy at the end of the tunnel where we get Dragic.

Just saw this - - so, JSmoove to Heat = essentially permanent move to the 5 for CB4? Yeah, that's happening.

I'm still unclear on the 'few extra dollars'. If it offsets Pistons' exposure, as I understand it, only Detroit cares what someone pays Smith.

    What am I missing???

The Pistons only get to subtract HALF of the DIFFERENCE between what Smith signs for and the one year veteran's minimum salary.

Any extra money above that is extra money in Smith's pocket. The bigger the contract he gets, the more money he takes home.

Now, if that difference is only a few hundred k, it's hard to imagine that will be the difference in what team he selects. If it's a million dollars? Well that's a whole different ballgame...
