I didn't say we are getting Dragic. I was saying that if we trade for Dragic or for Dragic + Plumlee, we have to send Phoenix some of our expiring contracts to complete the trade, thus clearing roster spots. As was mentioned we would probably cut Black or Dorsey to sign Smith, or we could try perhaps to trade a guy like Capela for a 2nd rounder.
You guys are giving way too much for Dragic. His stock is low so why buy as if its high? Jones, Canaan, and a second round pick should get it done.
I like the move if we get him only because of the price. If he sucks, he should be easy to discard. He could also add some value to a deal for a more long term fit like a Dragic. Our bench is going to become really solid. Dmo controlling the low block, energy from Brewer, shooting from Terry. Hopefully Mchale wises up and starts using Canaan again.
Josh Smith the small forward at 60 million is horrifying Josh Smith at the power forward at 2 million is awesome
DMo may no longer start but I expect the guys who will have their minutes cut back are Dorsey/Black & Papa. DMo would probably still be netting 25-30 minutes a game and would be our primary offnsive weapon off the bench.
You think Phoenix is dying to give away a 3rd team All-NBA player for a guy with a vague, scary, unspecified "nerve problem" who may be out the entire season, a backup point guard, and a second round pick? Ok.
No they are trading for a high upside guy and a shooter. To sweeten the deal you give them a second round pick. Gogi is not recording 20 points a game, so why give them our depth when his stock is lower?
Who cares? This is the NBA. Put you big boy pants on and be a professional. Besides, he'll still get his minutes while being the go to guy with the second unit, he'd flourish and this would actually benefit him more. Either he doesn't get that or you and his fans don't.
but why? Dragic is not special, DMO is special... very special...nba is full of guards of dragic type...there are easily at least 10-15 such players if not more... theres hardly anyone in NBA with DMO's skillset...
JSmith will clear waivers by 5 pm eastern today. IF Morey is able to sign JSmith imagine that after the media's giving the Rockets no shot and very bad FA Summer. Looks Morey will have the last laugh.
Well for one I think you overvalue DMo. I really like him. A 7 footer with quick feet, great post moves, pretty good defense and a 3pt shot? That's really nice. But who knows how he adjusts, when other Teams start scouting him and prepare for him. And who knows how he handles the work load of a full seasons with big minutes. And he still got lots of things to learn. He may be something very Special, but we don't know that yet. Dragic? 3d Team all NBA? We know he is special. True, there are many good PGs in the league - that doesn't mean they all come cheap. Dragic is probably not a max Player, but he can take a lot of pressure of Harden and lead the offense of our second unit. So far he is having a down year - maybe because other Teams concentrate on him, maybe because of his situation in Pheonix. But here he could be the 3d Option and would clearly Play more than 30 minutes a night. And to summarize: with Smith, we would simply need a guy like Dragic more than a guy like DMo. But I am still not convinced we would have to include DMo. The Pelicans pick is nice, TJones showed real promise, as did Papa. We have some Euro guys (Lull?), we have some good young guards - and we could include Beverly (who I'd rather include than DMo). That's a pretty good package.
