This team has been so blessed with avoiding max contract fails. Bosh, Gasol, Josh Smith, Carmelo...

For as much as Morey is good, he's also very lucky.

First off, I'm sold on Jsmoove. I think he was playing out of his position and on a scrub team with no motivation to play hard. Plus he was one of the first options on his scrub team. If he comes to Houston, all that changes. I'd take the risk (at $2mil/yr) and see if he changes as well. He'll have a reason to try hard with the actual chance of winning games, lots of games. He'll start alongside his best man & close friend DH12, and with MVP candidate James Harden and they will contend for a title. I believe it will work out and not just because I want it to, but also because of everything I just wrote makes sense. And if for some reason it doesn't work out, he'll be easy to let go.

Second off, I would have at first traded DMo to get Dragic. But after thinking about it for a while, DMo can give DH12 rest when needed and play center if Dwight goes down again, he can spin and hit consistently close to the basket and he's working on his 3. Would Dragic improve this team so much over Beverley that we'd still be a great team if Dwight can't get rest or if he gets injured? I'm not suggesting DMo is better than Dragic, but the things DMo brings us probably are.

We'll lose either Dorsey or Black if we sign Smith. I would much rather lose Dorsey than Black but Bima stated on twitter it might be a wiser move to cut Black.

No! Tarik started in Dwight's place. Once we go Black, we cannot go back.

Why? we'll just be running a Howard/Smith/Dmo rotation, ideally we'd want to be running something like 32/32/32

Soooo D-Mo is too good to be traded for Dragic now?? Lmao... ****ing CFans. DMo has shown a lot of improvement and he's filling in well but if Phx wants DMo as the focal point of a trade for Dragic... You do that without thinking twice. Especially if you are able to land Josh Smith regardless if he pans out or not.

I see the point of those hesitant to move DMo. There is a decent chance that D12 misses additional time. When that happens, DMo softens the blow a little bit when compared to Dorsey/Black. I think we are in pretty good shape at PG, so I wouldn't be that eager to mix things up.

Well, Dwight's health issues are one reason for our interest in Josh Smith. We need insurance; we're still just a quarter of the season over.

I'm not saying he's too good but what I'm saying is you have no depth at the big man position if you trade him. You'll have to bring in someone in if you make D-Mo the focal point of the trade.

If josh Smith is picked up, one of Dorsey or black has to be cut to make a roster spot. If you trade Dmo for Dragic ( assuming you want Plumleee) you also need a roster spot. We have 15 players as is without even getting smith but you also suggesting O'Neil. Who are cutting in order to sign all of those suggested

What if Jones can't come back this year? Is there a IR for the NBA? I can't recall.

I think you want to try everything to keep DMo. But if the only way to get Dragic is to let him go, you do that. You just try to give them TJones, Papa, Terry - maybe even Beverly first. And picks. If they don't bite, you include DMo - but only if it's the only chance.

I think that if we trade for Dragic and Plumlee, we would have to give the Suns some of our expiring contracts so that would clear roster spots.

Dragic > DMo, but if we do this trade (assuming we don't sign another legit big) we are left with Dorsey/Black as the backup 4/5.

I'd feel a lot more comfortable giving up DMo for Dragic if Jones' status was a lot clearer for the better. Even if Smith signs here, it'll still be thin in the front court without DMo.

However, I still trade DMo if it meant getting Dragic. This team would still have no depth up front, but we upgrade in another major area of need: playmaking. In today's perimeter-oriented game, the playmaker is more valuable than the post player. Especially if the playmaker is proven and the post player is just now starting to click.

At the same time, PHX is not in position of leverage. Given the situation, I'm willing to wait for Dragic to become a free agent.
