I will be disappointed if Josh Smith isn't a Rocket by the end of the week. I think that Howard / D-Mo / Smith are going to make for a heck of a defensive front court! Howard / D-Mo Smith / D-Mo Ariza / Brewer / Papa Harden / Brewer Beverly / Terry / Alexi And if the Rockets can swing a trade for Dragic, the offense would be well balanced. As it is, there is a lot of defense. But the offense relies too heavily on Harden and 3 point shots.
LOL. Sixers?? Why? Unless they have done the math and decided signing Josh Smith will make them tank even worse...
Josh Smith is going to play for a contract, 2 million for his services is peanuts. If he does not fit, cut him. THe Rockets are one player away from being elite. You take chances like this when you are this close. He'll play within the system if he wants to win and get his next payday. Its a medium risk-high reward scenario.
Rockets are only that give JSmith 2 mil all others wanting JSmith can only give 1.4 mil tops. Looking for the Rockets chances of getting JSmith. How many days for JSmith to clear waivers?
Spurs are not the team for Smith - I don't think he has the IQ to operate in their offensive system. 76ers... Just lol... On so many levels. Kings... See above. There would be a fight between DeMarcus and JSmoove within the first month. I can see the Suns because of their running. But they aren't a contender. So if he's happy to go to a run of the mill borderline Playoff team this could be a god spot. Really, Houston is just the best fit no matter which way you slice it. I do hope Morey would at least have a sit down chat with D-Mo beforehand to lay out his vision for D-Mo in this team - instead of having him be disgruntled and p*ssed off ala Omer last year.
It's all mind games... trying to get the best possible deal, so he's including other teams on his "list".
Lol what. That's entirely what Houston should be concerned with. This reminds me when Portland paid Francis to go away. And then the Rockets brought him back. Some thought he'd return to his old self. Poor Stevie was not even a locker room cancer. But Adelman still benched his ass because he was just done as a player by then. This is almost the exact same situation. Except Smith might be marginally better than the franchise was at that point. But he's a legit head case who will ruin the team chemistry. This isn't the late 00 Rockets with T-Mac/Yao/Battier/Mutombo/Hayes/Adelman who can bring in a head case player and tame them. Lol at Dwight and James somehow being able to control Josh Smith. Dude is bad on and off the court. A shell of his former self. And still he has the overall and basketball IQ of a rock. At least that hasn't changed for him. Thoroughly hope the Rockets do not sign his ass.
You don't see how him being such an awful player and teammate that a team is willing to pay him 26 million dollars just to go away would be a problem for whatever team picks him up? A non-factor player is better than a player who is an active detriment to his team which is what Josh Smith has been the last several years both on and off the court. Look at what literally any Pistons fan says about him leaving, do you think they are sad? They look at the news of Josh Smith going away as if it's an early Christmas present....aren't you at least a little curious as to why that is?
Since I made you so angry with my other post I'll continue the stats: 1) Your info 23pts - took Aldridge 21 shots to do it, shot just 37%. 2) Previous year (12/15/13) Aldridge 27pts - took him 25 shots to do that and Smith outscored him with 31 pts. 3) Game on (11/11/13) Aldridge just scored 18pts largely against him (smith only had 11pts that game). 4) The year before as a Hawk against Smith the trend continues Aldridge shot only 36.4% in 2 games. 5) Aldridge against the Rockets in the playoffs scored - 46, 43, 23, 29, 8, 30 (~48%) - a huge contributor to losing the series. With Smith and DMo (DMo's opponent FG% at the basket is just 35% -great defense on DMo's part) we should be able to force our opponent into more low percentage shots. Bottom line LA didn't go off during any of those games when he faced Smith. Time will tell the story if Smith comes to Houston.
Sounds like you know josh smith personally and everything about him. How he acts on and off the court. Tell us more. People here read stuff online and act like they know everything about a player especially to think they know how they act
For $10 million for a few years I would be. But not for a $1-$2 mil rental that costs nothing with above average talent
Again, this isn't 2k, chemistry and the atmosphere in the locker room matter, he's a headcase that is friends with Dwight Howard, he could cost us A LOT.
