Well seeing as their biggest weakness is frontcourt depth Smith would help them. IMHO, Rondo will make them a worse team and he would have even been a worse fit here.
I agree. Josh Smith is ****ing terrible. The terrible Pistons just paid him $20+ million to literally go away. Fans like to rag on the organization for "star chasing" but they're so desparate for any "big name" player coming here that they're now looking forward to this low IQ cancer.
Honestly I don't think he starts in Houston .... He would probably be the first big man off the bench but I don't think he takes the starting spot from DMo. Would be a nice three man rotation with DMo starting at PF and moving to C when Smith came in.
DMo is best served as a bench player. Smith starts and DMo comes in depending at C/PF depending on the game's situation.

His performance off the bench in the past I think had more to do with establishing confidence and fitting in. Starting and having minutes where he doesn't have to be concerned about getting benched has helped him to turn the corner. I think he's capable of returning to the bench without losing confidence or the feeling like belongs on the NBA court.
he's not even close to what josh smith can be. dmo is nothing more than a 20 minute a game player. if you can land dragic for dmo + pellies 1st... you do it in a heart beat.

only if you get some sign dragic resigns. otherwise youll be stuck with josh smith and no backups if we want to assume that Jones won't come back next year for the full year.
This. A starting lineup of Dragic, Harden, Ariza, Smith, and Howard is hands down the best in the NBA. Then you still have Bev, Pap, Brewer, maybe Cannan or Terry depending on who is traded and possibly Jones coming back. Defense and depth and three stars?!?!
why didn't josh smith sign here in 2013? i'm wary of whether we get him because didn't we try 2 summers ago?
