    Hyperbole much?

You can just cut him if he doesn't work out.

That's not hyperbole, name players with lower basketball IQ than Smith? Also, sure you can cut him, but if he screws up the locker room first, the damage is done, not to mention that one of his best friends is Dwight Howard. It's quite a gamble actually.

exactly, its a pretty low risk high reward situation. If Smith destroys team chemistry or chucks up too many mid-rangers (only Harden is allowed to do that) then they can just bench him or reduce his minutes significantly until he starts coming around to the Rockets style of play.

I don't think McHale (or Morey) will be afraid to treat him like any other player and not some prima donna star--which he is not--! If it doesn't work out, it was a $2M gamble...ala Joey Dorsey.

I'm not "mad at everything" just the Rockets going after one of the worst players in the NBA. Seems like a legit reason to be mad.

Imagine a lineup with Smith at SF and Rondo at PG. The floor spacing is just gonna be ****ed. Even Monta only shoots 33% or so from the arc.

My point is... As Houston fans, Morey is the last person anybody should question. We're not talking Rick Smith, and Jeff Luhnow (to a lesser extent).

I could care less about DMo's development when it comes to potentially hitting a home run with the no risk Josh Smith acquisition.

Thing is Phoenix is still fighting for a playoff spot, so keeping Dragic and the possibility that he walks in the offseason would be better for the Suns than just taking the best offer if the offer isn't good enough for them.

I remember when people said Dwight Howard was a "locker room cancer"...

    How did that turn out?

    Let bygones be bygones.

And again, do you think he wants to come off the bench vs a starting PF spot on a contender? Or maybe you have Dirk or Max Parsons come off the bench so you make that sound bite happen?

While it may not be open and shut for the Rockets to sign him, you're dreaming if you think he's taking Dallas' offer.

The difference btw Josh Smith and Rajon Rondo is that Smith did not tear his ACL. If he played poorly the past couple years it was due to the bad fit in the system. As much as people complain about him, the dude was a beast in Atlanta. There is always risk in any move, but in this case for the price we could get him at, the potential payoff more than makes it worthwhile.

    Go get him, Morey!

This is fair, which I why I said earlier the only real competition for dragic is PHX themselves. They could opt to take a chance on him walking in FA. As I said earlier everything hinges on how confident they feel dragic will stay or how clear dragic is he intends to walk. If they think the risk of him walking is high enough to trade him a 11-14 pick and a few decent young players is better than nothing.

Every team that has been in this kind of situation (a FA potentially leaving) gets a package that's about .50 on the dollar.

Phx's leverage lessens the closer they get to the trade deadline + the more likely it is they miss the playoffs + the more difficulty Bledsoe/dragic have in meshing together.

Woah there. Luhnow is much much more like Morey than Smith. Luhnow's doing a solid job. The Astros are in the 2011 2012 Rockets shoes. They're engaging in the baseball version of the Sam Hinkie strat. Very ballsy and cutting edge.

The funny thing about this is, if josh smith will end up with the Mavs, 70% of the posters in this thread whom praised him will immediately laughing at Dallas getting one of the worst player in nba.

    Ironic.
