It's that "what have you done for me lately" thing of him throwing 4 TDs. If it wasn't for the hand injury, it'd be Demarco and his chase for 2000 yards on that list. Below JJ of course.

Watt having a "chance" for DPOY is the understatement of the year.

He is almost guaranteed to be DPOY.

If the amount of wins a team has wasn't a factor when deciding the MVP award ----> OBJ and J.J. should be the top 2... The kid is amazing and I would not argue if a Giants fan said he's the best player (non-QB) in the league.

Russell Wilson should be ahead of Romo though... Probably Rodgers too.

Jesus... he's a rookie. He's not even a top 5 WR yet. Relax.

what? Odell Beckham best football player in the world? He is having a good season but ts not like he is doing anything ground breaking... tons of receivers do what he is doing every year

I could argue that Beckham is definitely one of the best WR in the league...doesnt matter if he's a rookie or not.

In his last 8 games of the season, he has 69 catches, 1014 yards, and 8 TDs. Imagine if he was healthy in training camp and didnt miss any of the regular season. His pace would have him at over 140 catches, 2000+ yards, and 16 TDs.

Think about that for a second. That would be the greatest season by a receiver in the history of the NFL. And he is only a rookie.

No doubt that he is one of the better talents in the NFL at the moment, but he shouldnt be in the discussion for top 5 MVP talent because of the Giants record. If they were in the playoff hunt, then his name would come up...just like Megatron's name has come up in the past.

Check my post above, but if he didnt miss time due to injury, he could have had the greatest season ever at the position. It is most definitely groundbreaking what he is accomplishing this season.

To piggyback on what rezdawg said _ the Giants have no respectable running game so teams don't have to put 8 in the box and no other legit receiving options so defenses roll their coverage towards OBJ and he still dominates them.

He's most definitely hands down a top 5 receiver this year...

I completely dismiss this notion that we have a ton of great QBs. We have rules in place that let 5'9" guys run across the middle with immunity. We have QB's dropping back where you can't touch them. Russell Wilson would have been nothing in the 70's. marshawn lynch however, would have been just as great.

I guess it's good for Russell that it's 2014 and not the 70's huh...??? But you could say that about Rodgers and many other QB's if you're just insinuating that QB's in today's game can't take a hit...

But, taking into consideration the evolution of man rather due to nutrition (steroids in food...???), sports science, exercise equipment, etc _ today's athletes are simply a different breed (bigger, stronger, faster). Lynch and many other players in today's game would more than likely be great in the 70's... On the flip side many of the great players in the 70's probably wouldn't be great in today's game.

It is good for all QBs. Their relative salaries have skyrocketed with the rules skewed to the passing game. What athletic freaks have dominated the QB position because of advanced training? Steroids were widespread in the 70's and 80's. They were legal!

I think you have completely missed the point and added false assumptions on top. We have a bunch of guys putting up historic number because the game has changed. The rules changed the game not the players.
