This sounds like a common error in translation. They have no idea if his season is in jeopardy. The timetable for recovering from a nerve injury, as has been explained here, is very difficult -- if not impossible -- to project. So without a timetable, the Rockets of course have to make contingencies and prepare themselves to play without him. A non-doctor who isn't well versed about the injury might see all that, including the Rockets' response, and assume the player could be done for the season. In reality, I don't think that's the case. Of course there's always a 0.1% chance, but the Rockets have to make plans without TJ because they don't know a timetable. It'd be silly not to. However, they definitely do not believe he's out for the season. As far as trade value, I agree he's "toast" as far as getting fair value for his abilities. However, considering we're talking about a very young player with an injury others have recovered from, he would still have SOME minimal value. It's kind of a moot point because I don't see Daryl selling that low -- I'm just disputing the idea that no one would want him.
Is there anyway we could get Dragic without giving up DMo? I could care less about the pick now. Just I don't wanna give up DMo.
Before the Smith news broke, my ideal scenario was for us to trade the farm for Dragic and Millsap. Removing the Dragic side of the equation, lets look at Millsap and Smith. Would you rather..... 1) Trade everything you have of value for a $9 million expiring Millsap or 2) Keep your assets and sign Smith for $2 million per year for 2 years. The answer should be obvious. As much as I'd like to have Millsap, you can't pass up the value of Smith at $2 million per.
Dragic himself said he would consider Houston. Its worthh the gamble. Its verry possible Dmo is just riding a hot streak. It happens numerous times during the season. If we land Smith then Dmo for Dragic makes perfect sense. Him plus Smith with our new additions put us in the convo for champs. Dmo does not.
DMO has to go in deal. Something centered around DMO/Rockets 1st or Pels 1st (Maybe just Knicks 2nd if Morey lowballs the hell out of them)/Canaan. If Morey wants to wait till Feb. He could include shved in deal as well. Feb deal could be: DMO/Pels 1st/Rockets 2nd rd./Canaan/Shved for Dragic/Len or Plumlee/TJ Warren. Something like that.
if we are shopping dmo. With our luck with injuries we should lower his mins or just flat out bench him.
Why? This makes zero sense. Dragic loves Houston and the Rockets would have his Bird rights, allowing them to bid more than anyone else. That's actually a huge reason to support trading for Dragic, as opposed to waiting until free agency to try and sign him. Do you think Dragic is going to leave the Rockets and sign with a worse team for less money? Please.
Honestly. Brace yourselves for the simple fact Josh Smith might not come to Houston and no Dragic trade. Things look optimistic on the SMith front, but if that falls through. We probably don't part ways with DMO.
If you believe nothing but this Board then yes. However, this Board has not proven to be prescient with any positive percentage preceding.
Has there been any word from JSmoove (or his reps) re: his future? (And has there been any indication from PHX that they are trading DG, as opposed to EB or IT or no one at all?) Just asking...as I have seen zero facts to go with.
One thing everyone should have learned after this summer is that nothing is a sure thing until it officially happens.
