I agree with you on the recovery time once the nerve heals, especially since they aren't rushing him back to avoid a long term issue/re-injury. I guess I meant serious as in it takes a lot longer to heal sometimes vs. a simple sprain/broken hand etc., especially since timetables are limited on nerve injuries. As far as lingering issues/career ending injury since it is only a contusion, and not a severed nerve like Nash (broken leg)/Jayson Williams (motorcycle wreck/broken leg), I would expect him to make a full recovery. I mean unless they're lying to us about the injury, but I doubt that. So as long as no crazy setbacks I would think he returns at some point this season, I do wish sometimes the Rockets org was a bit more forthcoming on injury info though (Dwight/Tracy etc.).
If we were to land Dragic after we signed Smith that would be amazing. That would 100% make up for Dmo. Dragic is proven Dmo has what played good in 20ish games? Lin did that as well. Dragic, Bev, Schved Harden, Brewer, Terry Ariza, Pops Smith,Jones Howard, Black That's a really strong team.
Rondo's trade set the precedent. For Rondo's trade. Dragic is a new day acumen', whether now, Feb or July. Or is it Bledsoe who will be saying ta-ta to the desert winds? Or just maybe Thomas??? CW says Dragic, but I choose to see it to believe it.
In games vs Portland, do you start Smith over Dmo to defend Aldridge or do you let them split time against him?
The major difference between Rondo's trade and the possible Dragic's trade is that Phoenix is battling for a playoff spot. They can afford to lose him for nothing if they think he can help they in a playoff run. Dragic will cost more than Rondo for this.
Rondo set the precedent for quality UFA PGs that want to get out - traded. Could Bledsoe or IT be traded? Sure. But there have to be takers. Not likely for IT and we'll see on Bledsoe. While Morey likes Dragic, he isn't so married to him to trade for him for poor value. Morey will just shop around. On the other hand...with the Suns....clock is ticking. Time is on Morey's side in this scenario.
You don't want to be short sighted as well... Dmo is a Euro who has taken some time to settle in but looks to have finally settled into the NBA. Dude is a 7footer with one of the best post games in the NBA right now... not a ton of those floating around... He is valuable. Also, It's not as simple as Dmo for Dragic straight up, Dmo has a year left on his contract after this season at a very low price (2mil?) and that is a steal for a legit back C or PF with a nice post game. Dragic is likely only a half season rental. I think it would be a bad move to trade Dmo for 4 months of the Dragon.
Too bad GMs are not short-sighted and actually look at the future. You really think they would want to keep dragic for a chance to play 4-5 playoff games and then lose him for nothing in free agency?
Agree about the playoff run. That does matter, no question. Can they afford to lose him for nothing? That does not seem very smart. What if they could make a trade to maintain assets for the future AND keep playing well? Remember, they have a log jam already with Bledsoe, IT, and Green at the 1/2 spots. Will Dragic cost more than Rondo? I don't think so. To each their own.
Back when I had sciatica and prior to having microdiscectomy surgery, my neurologist said the same thing - after surgery, the strength and feeling in my leg could completely recover or stay the same due to the sciatica. There was no telling with nerve damage what would happen. We decided to wait and see if it would get better, and when it was just getting worse, we went ahead with the surgery before I was dragging my leg behind me. I went from having 50-60% strength in that leg with numbness and crazy pain to having about 90% and a slight numbness that may stay in that leg the rest of my life.
I think DM is gonna realize how valuable truly is when he sees him doing damage with Shved and Brewer off the bench as the primary scoring option. Dmo for Dragic isn't happening guys. No need to worry.
DRAGIC is your primary scoring option off the "bench". There will never be a single minute where one of Dragic or Harden is not on the floor. If Dragic/Beverley/Brewer/KPap/Whoever is your bench, you are fine.
so a starting lineup of howard smith ariza harden beverly bench black dmo brewer/pap terry/johnson cannon/Alexy that is a pretty nice lineup
Have to keep D-Mo, and get Dragic......just to lead the league in left handed players. Harden, Howard (used to be), DMo, Smith, Dragic.....
I'm not sold on the inevitability of DG being the one, if one indeed is, gone. For example, first call to IT 7/1? Ainge. Smart? Hmm, IT and Smart? DA has pieces McDonough, his former ass't, might covet - - like Frye-replacement Sully? I'd be listening if I were PHX at a deal centered on those two. Sully, w/out a team on his back, might just be the answer they want. Is the Suns' clock ticking? They are chasing the after-season post-haste and might just slip in. Or not. July? They could re-sign Dragic and trade one of the others or SnT DG. They are not up the creek, necessarily, on their 'desert' island.
