Smith could provided needed depth in frontcourt. Well, that was incorrect. Stretch provision is different. Good for us, he will take money for this season in consideration.
Or. And this is just a theory here, maybe Smith isn't worth the full BAE? This is not a bad situation for Houston to be in, but Smith doesn't instantly take them to the next level. Morey might have other plans for the money on the table.
If we can nab Smith on any variation of a one year deal, with a team option it'd be worth it. Trade piece or we could just let him expire. I don't think he'll fit well here, but if it means keeping him out of Dallas's hands I'm all for it.
For people who thinks he sucks no. Get him back at power forward and he will be awesome. His defense is pretty good. He can drive and slam it down. Decent at dribbling. Has a love hate relationship with his jumper but I know he could consistently hit it but mental thing I guess. He could work with Hakeem and having a jones/smith is an automatic upgrade over our back up PFs besides dmo.
Arguable. Rondo is a better player and the Rox did not pull that trigger. Josh Smith would be pretty good with DHoward inside I must admit except from shooting treys. I am sure we will be better with him but there are many question marks if he means we are a top contender.
Hard to imagine another player becoming available that we could with the BAE that would have a greater impact. Josh Smith is a gamble, but the upside is huge. If he really turns out to not fit/be a detriment...just cut him. A lot easier to do that when he's on a $2M deal than $26M !
From the screech section: JSmoove is a better shooter between 3 feet and 23 feet this seaon than LaMarcus Aldridge is. SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECH!
That's why you got Terrance jones, dmo, Bev and harden for. Smith is only gonna give us more depth and when jones comes back will actually have the bench we've always needed
I can't get over how ironic it is for Josh Smith to be winning right now . He get's to LEAVE Detroit while getting paid and can possibly sign with a winning team within less than a month ? Josh Smith is clearly having the best holiday season amongst any player in the NBA right now .
Did you think Smith would be available via BAE either? A lot of teams in the west are in no mans land right now. They can't tell whether they'll make the playoffs or run for the lotto. As the picture becomes clearer a lot more teams will cut and run on talent to help their lotto chances. I'm not saying Smith isn't a good fit. I'm not saying he isn't. I'm just saying not signing him doesn't mean Les is cheap.
