I hope you're right. I think with a more talented supporting cast, and better shot selections on his 3's (stick to the corners) I think he could be a beast off the bench, and just what the doctor ordered to relieve Harden.
Once Shved gets acclimated to the Rockets schemes, I think he'll play the back-up point. Terry slides over to back-up SG and Brewer will spell Ariza. Canaan has been kinda slow in getting back from his injury and we have an important stretch of crucial games coming up, so the timing of the trades couldn't have been better.
I can see him as part of the pieces needed for a 3 way sending Lopez and the NOP to phx and Dragic and filler to us. The Suns need a big man bad and we really don't have one to spare. And the Nets will be having a huge fire sale vey soon. Nice little Russian homecoming.
Time will tell. I wouldn't be mad if we get to keep the N.O pick but its looking like its not going to be top ten anyway. I hope to god Im wrong and your right.
Well, management will have to give him some minutes eventually in order to get something in return for him. Otherwise, they wouldn't have cut Garcia.
Shved's PG skills and size fit perfectly with our second team, because now either Terry or Canaan can play the off-guard (but guard the PGs) while AS can guard the 2-guards. While Shved is not the crazy passer that Rubio is, the shooter Dragic is or the defender/distributor Rondo is, he's a poor man's version of Dragic now with some size who could develop into much more (on the right team/system). I believe Morey knows that Dragic cost in a trade may not be worth the risk of him going somewhere else next year. He may also believe Dragic isn't what takes us to the next level. If so, Shved is a low risk/high reward move that could become a key member of our 2nd team. What I really like about this move is Brewer and Shved gives us new dimensions on our bench and didn't cost us any significant value or screw with our chemistry--Daniels/2nds and releasing Garcia was chump change. I think this was a brilliant move and although some may think this wasn't a SPLASH, I believe Morey's chest board may have gotten us some key pieces to continue to win this year and perform well in the play-offs. If we can add a vet back-up 5 that can play 10-15 mins then I think we roll with these guys into the play-offs.
Agree with most: Shved has some skills we need but don't think he sees the court for 2-3 weeks. Once acclimated though I expect Black/Dorsey to be pushed out of the rotation, with Shved/Jet/Brewer/Papa coming off the bench - DMo spelling Howard as backup C for 15 minutes a game.
Good points. A backup 5 is necessary, Emeka is unfit, and J.O'Neal may not choose us. If Boston doesn't want to keep Brandon Wright, we should try to get him. D-Mo and he can keep us afloat, if Howard ends up missing some games.
They have a bunch of bigs already , Len & Plumlee at the 5 , Morris twins at the 4 and at least three others capable of playing the PF spot. What PHX lacks is a scoring wing player .... Honestly as much as I like Dragic & think he fits very well here , with the addition of Shved , I don't think its necessary to go after Dragic now. The only hole I see is the backup 4/5 because Jones is missing in action. If Jones is able to come back and contribute I'm content with the roster as constructed. If not , I'm looking for a 4/5 that doesn't break the bank or cost me rotation players.
