    As the title says, what are songs that mention Houston that are NOT rap or country (because I think there's enough of those out there, and that's not the type of music I'm interested in)?

    Ones I know of are:

    Wasp - Blind in Texas
    Chuck Berry - Promised Land
    Iggy Pop - Houston is Hot Tonight
    Rolling Stones - Petrol Blues
    Rush - Countdown (it's actually the NASA call, but screw it I'm including it because it's fecking RUSH)
    Eagles - The Long Run
    ZZ Top - Heaven Hell or Houston, Master of Sparks (mentions Highway 6), Down Browny (mentions Highway 59)
    Leadbelly - Midnight Special

    Any others?

    Close to Country on this song but what you are looking for is this tune by the Black Crowes. Mentions Houston and really is about what a lonely place our town can be. Saw the band do it live in Austin at Stubbs and during only the bridge of the song the sky opened up and pissed down raining. Perfect slice of Houston.
