Kind of a disappointing Bowl assignment. Memphis? Good chance of losing as well.

Boring in what way? It's a destination I actually wouldn't mind going to for a day or two.

A very cosmopolitan city. Rome, Paris, and Memphis.

Lol, bad things are deserved when horrible defenses aren't accounted for year after year.

After hearing that? I mean, that'd be like me burping, Mack decomitting, then me saying he decommited because I burped... Murray also looks to be leaving but who knows.

It has t***, food and booze, sounds good to me. Better than going to Dallas, Shreveport or anywhere in Florida not Miami.

You think it was just coincidence he decommitted after Malik's announcement? They're good friends and have said for years they want to play together in college.

Memphis is fun as hell for a few days. You should go.

Good food, good music, good drink, good (not sure if you're single).

Yea man. It's exactly like that. Part of the reason why Jefferson was thought to be going to A&M was because he and Mack wanted to play at the same place together. Instead, Jefferson goes to Texas and then Mack decommitts? You really think there is 0 reason to believe those two things are related?

This is years of you bragging non stop about that A&M swag and rubbing it into UT's face cracking your mental state. Go to a safe place.

This happened because Sumlin didn't take care of business regarding hiring a DC. If I didn't know who would be my coordinator, I would have a hard time committing to a school. According to Malik's father, that was a big part of the discussion. Then the Mack domino fell.

Whoever the DC ends up being, it had damned well better be a really good hire.

Well no mack for us. Would be crazy if he ends up al LSU. They took one of our 5 stars for this year too.

So Sumlin should be held hostage by a 17 year old who was, at best, a slight A&M lean? Could Sumlin have hired someone quicker? Sure, but the high profile targets (except for Muschamp) are still working on bowl teams and probably not willing to distract their teams with talk of leaving. Hiring a DC is more important than a single recruit, 5* or not. Based on the recent articles, I doubt Malik was going to go anywhere but UT even if Sumlin had a DC since his parents were seemingly dead set on him being a Longhorn and the fact that his buddy McNeal wanted to be a WR and I doubt A&M wanted him there when they already had several better options at that position.

As for Mack, yes it sucks since he went on and on how he was only committing once, then almost immediately started looking around, and basically used A&M as a fallback if he couldn't BBD them before decommitting without even having the courtesy of letting Sumlin know before announcing it on Twitter. As it stands, I wouldn't even count out him recommitting if the DC is a "splash" hire like Foster or even Durkin. He's not an early enrollee,it's a long way to NSD.

There's a rumor that TAMU is waiting on Bud Foster to collect his tenure bonus on the 31st from VT before announcing his hiring. I don't buy into it but it would explain a lot.

Seems more like fan hope than anything else. ;)

It was fun for folks to dream about Muschamp, Narduzzi, Venables & Foster but I never thought any were coming, so who (we/a)re the 'real' candidates?

Yeah I heard that too. I don't know if the $800k is worth the hassle this delay has been, but it would explain it. I'm not convinced Foster would leave VT while Beamer is still there though. They've been through the wars together for quite a few years.

Ya, Foster has been a lifer and he's up for the head coach job eventually if he wants it. Hard to imagine it happening but it would be huge if it did. Totally worth losing Mack and Jefferson (although I don't buy we ever had Jefferson) over. $800,000 is a lot of money to an assistant coach.

There are reports coming from VT sites that, once Beamer is gone, they will hire from outside, for a HC and Foster isn't really under consideration.
