Morey got caught chasing a star again and asked Harden & Howard how Beverley felt and they could put in a good word so he won't go Wolverine on him :p

So, #close? #soon? #what word are we on now? Cyberx said 2 days ago it was close from Morey's mouth. If so, what changed? We know it's not Rondo because the talk seems to be that we never really made a competitive offer for him.

4 team trade: HOU, DET, PHO, ORL

HOU in: G Goran Dragic (PHO) (into Lin TE) + F/C Kyle O'Quinn (ORL)
DET in: SF Mo Harkless (ORL) + C Clint Capela (HOU) + SAC 2nd
PHO in: F/C Greg Monroe (DET) + G Isaiah Canaan (HOU)
    ORL in: F / C Joey Dorsey (HOU) + F Kyle Singler (DET) + F Anthony Tolliver (PHO) + $3M cash (HOU) + DEN / MIL 2nd (from HOU)

    Who says "NO"?

DET gets a legit small forward (Harkless) and can move J-Smoove to the PF position. Capela is a backup big man and front-court depth. Plus the SAC 2nd which may increase in value #SOON helps convince Detroit. Moreover, they are going to lose Monroe in the off-season anyway. Now they acquire players under contract for next two seasons (minimum) and on low contracts.

PHO gets a mobile & versatile big man who only helps add to Hornacek's passing oriented system. Canaan is a deal sealer. Canaan provides a bench scorer and another playmaker for Suns' O. Also, Dragic might walk this summer anyway. By moving Dragic and Tolliver, the Suns have enough room to re-sign Greg Monroe in the off-season. I think Monroe would re-up with PHO b/c (1) team on the rise + (2) would fit the offense / defense.

ORL has Aaron Gordon set to return so Harkless and O'Quinn would be wasted. They pick up a vet F/C in Dorsey and another front court player in Tolliver. They can use the $$$ from Htown to buy out a player (or two) if they want. Singler replaces Harkless on the bench.

HOU obviously gets Dragic. But for those of you who don't know about O'Quinn.... Google him and check out Basketball Reference plus advanced metrics sites. O'Quinn helps us defend the murderers' row of Western Conference PFs. Also, with this trade... Houston keeps NOP 1st ;)

    Dragic // Beverley // Johnson
    Harden // Terry // Daniels
    Ariza // Papa // Garcia
    D-Mo // Jones //
    Howard // O'Quinn // Black

Plus there is room to sign Jermaine O'Neal or Emeka Okafor to add some veteran front-court depth

Mavs hit us with one to the body... we hit the entire Western Conference with 3 to the dome.

The way I see it we spent a lot of time talking about Rondo and the Rockets never wanted him and it would have been a bad thing if we had chosen to get him.....at least when it comes to Gogi it would be a good thing if we had him.

Morey passed on Dragic because he didn't want to include the player option. Why would he trade for him now? Dragic is virtually the same player who left us, he hasn't gotten better. He's certainly not a superstar or even an All-Star level player.

You really think Morey is going to trade up our young talent, pellies pick just to bring this guy back with the player option in his contract that he didn't want to begin with?

Talk about desperation. Maybe if our team was hovering around .500 with a chance of missing the playoffs, I could see him considering it. But, we still have one of the leagues best records and half our team has been injured.

That was before the Rockets had Harden and Howard. That's why you would want to trade for him now.

We're talking about Daryl Morey here, bro. He's the guy who keeps our team in financial flexibility so that we may go after big names every summer, even though we may strike out at least we are in the conversation every summer while keeping a competitive team on the floor. Very impressive job, Mr. Morey has done here.

Do you really think Morey will ever trade some of these young guys who are playing well above their pay grade just so that we can aquire a guy like Dragic who is more expensive and comes with a player option that will hamper our flexibility? Especially when acquiring said player will not really improve our team very much since he's not an all-star level player?

You don't know Morey very well.

In fact, most of the posters here don't seem to know Morey very well.

We have a lot of dreamers here but Rockets fans have never really been pragmatic thinkers.

Your argument makes sense to all who share your opinion of Dragic as a player. Some view him as the final member of the big 3, a star. It's as simple as that.

Dragic is who is he is, he has never proven to be anything different than that.

He is Bobby Sura 2.0. Which means he's a good player but he's not great. Definitely not going to be the guy who puts us over the hump.

What is it that you think we are missing?

Seems like we struggle offensively apart from Harden making it happen.
Dragic is better than Sura, not a star, but doesn't need to be. Would be good enough to get out and get those cheap points on the break, and create in the half court set.

Bobby sura? I think you need to double check his shooting percentages. Sura was just athletic with size and shot just ok. Dragic can be a 50/40/90 guy.

We're missing a frontcourt player who can shoot FT's in the 70% plus range and make the midrange or 3pt shot. Someone who can spread the floor for Dwight to get one on one post ups while also being able to dominate the ball to prevent Hack-A-Dwight.

It was thought that Jones might be this guy but given the nature of his injury it may be awhile before we can experiment.

Rockets biggest need right now is a Paul Millsap type player.
