Was this really the best deal out there for Boston? I like Brandon Wright, but Jae Crowder and Nelson, late 1st/2nd round pick?

half the teams have a better point than rondo and the other half don't want to play rondo style basketball.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather have Jameer Nelson than Rondo.

I really hope we have a better trade lined up if we just let Rondo walk to the mavs for peanuts.

Nelson is battle tested, blends into any team and can be clutch when it counts. Is he an everyday player, no. But he is about as solid a bench player that you can get. I LOVE Jameer Nelson's game.

    I HATE rondo's game, with a passion.

Umm .. .. it hasn't stopped him from getting to where he wants on the court and setting up others in the past. That's why he's dangerous as a pg because he, like Paul and Lawson and conley, just get to their spots on the court. Lots of people want him to fail but he's entering his prime ...

Nothing Nelson can do at this point that harris can't especially when both are really bench players. You can hate rondo all you want but he is the one who is truly battle tested and proven

A lot of folks in this thread are sleeping on how good Rondo is. He IS an ELITE PG. He is going to make everyone on the Mavs better and he's going to put up like 13+ assists per game. He put up nearly 11 with Jeff Green as his best offensive threat.

Furthermore, Rondo will be rejuvenated and has a chance to play for something again. I expect his defensive intensity and energy level to go back to when he the Celts were contenders. His scoring will go up again as well since he won't be doubled since he's surrounded by offensive threats again.

I hate the Mavs but I can't sit here with a straight face and deny the fact that Rondo can and will take them to the next level.

    ****!

Sounds about right coming from a Rudy Gay (Memphis version) fan boy.

Nobody is denying he's an elite pg. but he doesn't fit on the rockets. rockets had a shot to get rondo but didn't want to give up parsons and picks remember

It's the homerism. Just let the season play out. The doubters will eventually see how good rondo still can be. I hate Dallas as well and definitely didn't want rondo going there.

Rondo is no Jason Kidd. This is what I think went through Dallas's mind. That they were getting their Jason Kidd for the championship run. Difference was that Kidd was a complete PG. Rondo is far far from that. Rondo can't shoot. Rondo can't shoot. Oh yeah, Rondo can't shoot. No matter how good he is, he is a liability on the offensive end. And how is he going to set up Monta? Monta thrives by using his speed to into the teeth of the defense. Now you are making monta a jumpshooter.

The difference would be that they can get to where they want then score, draw foul or pass.. Rondo can only do one of those

For all his flaws, he's still a Elite PG. The folks Dallas gave up were backups and a mid level 1st round pick.

This is the truth. He would have helped us greatly.

And Dallas has two weaknesses that I see-point guard and defense. Both of those just got a lot better.

Rondo is a very good, sometimes great player, but he is not the right fit for the Rockets anyway. Rondo is a playmaker, distributor. Very useful for many teams (including the Mavs, probably).

However, for the Rockets, with the way Harden is playing, they would be insane not to have the ball in his hands 75% of the time. And if Harden always has the ball, then Rondo would be completely useless on this team.

It depends on which Rondo Dallas gets. Is Rondo close to fully recovered athletically from injury? Is he gonna be motivated and play at another level on a contender?

The Rondo we have been seeing in Boston hasn't been very good. Still got the court vision to rack up a ton of assists, but not defending very well and not aggressively attacking the rim as often as he should either (perhaps because of being afraid to go to the FT line while shooting 30% from there).
