I think most people on here realize that Rondo on the Rockets would have not been a good fit and a bad deal for us. Most people are acknowledging that a team we have a high chance of facing the playoffs has a good chance that they have gotten better. I still don't view them as a threat to make a run for the championship. No defense.
Agreed. However, despite how well we've played and the record we have, we are not that far from 7th. Unfortunately, that's how stacked the west is. A team not too far from is improved. Now we need to improve. Not change what's successful, but we need to improve. Specifically depth at the front court and playmaking ability are cause for concern to survive. James Harden is unbelievable right now. But let's get him some help to add to the momentum of the improvement of DMo and the improved chemistry with Howard. Ariza has been key on defense and is a big reason why we are where we are. But let's get that playmaker or some depth in the front court. No time to stand pat in the West.
Objective look at Dallas' lineup: Tyson - C (still commands the paint, but in general...Dallas' defense is terrible) Dirk - PF (still a HOF, and will make clutch shots when needed) Chandler - SF (Rondo's addition will help Chandler get open shots at a much higher clip...something that will help him be a more consistent scorer and he doesnt have to try creating for others. He also will get great passes on the wings and in transition.) Monta- SG (Monta was doing well when he was able to create for himself. I just dont know how he will do if someone else is creating for him. He may struggle) Rajon - PG (Smart guy on the court and will execute what his coach wants. He plays the passing lanes well, and understands how to set people up very well. Will do well in Dallas, and his poor stats from the start of this season will be overlooked in a few months.) Bench: Greg Smith - C (this could get ugly if Tyson ever gets hurt; Wright gave them great minutes off the bench) Charlie V/Aminu - PF (lol) Richard Jefferson - SF (throws up clunkers well) Devin Harris - SG (he is ok as a player, but is extremely streaky) JJ Barea - PG (in limited spot duty, he is the perfect pest and a smart player) As everyone has already pointed out, Dallas' bench is a significant issue...they could get it better before the trade deadline, but we shall see how much of a lead their starters will be able to get...B/C their bench will cost this team games. The stress on the starters to produce is now immensely high...An injury to Tyson, ends all hope for this team. I cant make a prediction of the pace this team will play at, but they dont have elite speed OR size...might expect a slower pace of bball from Dallas from now on. They didnt play defense before, and they wont dramatically increase on defense now...
I'm wondering what Morey has on his mind... He's said we don't need an all star PG to contend for a title..
But like other posters said, Morey was able to drive up the price for Rondo. Two back-up bigs and two picks? Wow! I can just imagine Cuban trying to cuddle up to Rondo (ala Parsons) and Rondo stiff-arms him LOL
We need a play maker not necessarily a pg. Wilson chandler or jeff green anyone And wright if tjones ain't comin back in time
I'm glad he wasn't, Tell Morey that Dragic is the guy and also I'd like to check out your theatre some time.
