guyz guyz guyz, this is all a smoke screen. Morey got Cuban focused on Rondo so he can make another move(s) without Cubanic interference.:cool::cool:

More to the point, he's hurting his own earning power/contract value if he's dogging it.

He's 28, coming off injuries - he's got one last big contract in him next year and then it's the twilight of his career with at/around vet minimums the rest of the way.

Brandan Wright has been a "rising" player for literally almost 10 years now, lulz. What's that McHale rule again? If you're not doing **** by year 3 you're ****? Exact words I believe.

Rondo makes the Mavs 5X better. He makes the Rockets 1.1X better and probably less flexible. If Beverley wasn't killing it from the 3 I'd be so much more inclined.

I'm thinking Morey is doing Ainge a solid just by feigning interest to make Cuban overpay. You KNOW that when Cuban catches wind that Morey is interested, he'll start scrambling to make sure Morey doesn't win.

And by doing just that, Morey wins.

Dirk, Tyson, Parsons, Ellis, and Rondo is a nice starting 5. Probably better than their starting unit that won the ship back in 2011. Adding a playoff vet like Rondo at PG could make them a really tough out in the playoffs. I don't necessarily thing Rondo is a perfect fit for the Rox but he could potentially be a really nice fit for Dirk and that crew.

I agree with Clutch - this just seems like something Boston leaked trying to get Houston to up it's offer. As other's have mentioned, given Rondo's regression as a shooter(which is troubling because he was never that good of a shooter), the nagging health issues, and the drop off of his defensive play, I wouldn't necessarily say he is anything but a relatively small upgrade from Pat Beverly and certainly not worth the cost of a "star". It's one thing if Boston is letting him go for Capela+2nd rounder but if we have to lose any of our young talent or that NO pick, I would say it's not worth it.

Take last night's Denver game - is Houston pulling that out with Rondo shooting the foul shots vs. Beverly? You can't close out close games if one of your best ball handlers also happens to shoot 40% on FTs. He is a worse free throw shooter than Dwight for christ sake. I don't think you can have two 50% FT shooters out there at once - especially not if they are higher usage guys like Dwight and Rondo.

I could see morey getting in on a 3 way deal with sac getting rondo, with HOU getting collison. Has a pretty reasonable contract.

Zero interest in Rondo. Hope talk of him is just a smokescreen for something else.

Rondo's god awful shooting would make him an extreme liability on this team. Teams could double Harden constantly, leaving Rondo completely unguarded and rarely pay a price.

It would be like having Joey Dorsey playing the point.

    Smokescreen guys. Carry on.

I'm all for the interest in Rondo just to make Dallas up their offer. Boston needs to get Ellis out of this deal so the Mavs don't really improve.

Please no Rondo. If Dallas wants him and gets him, so be it. Morey shouldn't trade for him just to keep him off the Mavs. We're 19-5 for God's sake and haven't even had our full roster since the first week. Why not wait til we're healthy and then see what pieces we really need? I think we're pretty good at PG right now with Bev, Terry, Canaan, and even Johnson. Where we really need some help is at the 2-3 spot cuz you can't be relying on Garcia to play meaningful minutes come playoff time.

we need another playmaker to take the load off Harden. Rondo is that guy.

Rondo may not fit the shooting needs of the PG position in this system, but he does bring something this team sorely needs overall. Playmaking. However, Ill say that the second playmaker should come off the bench.

The Boston Celtics, after years of flirting with potential Rajon Rondo deals, are in substantive discussions on a trade that would send Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Celtics and Mavericks have been discussing a swap that would furnish Boston with multiple draft picks -- including at least one first-rounder -- as well as blossoming Mavericks center Brandan Wright and other players needed to make the salary-cap math work.

We absolutely need playmaking, but is it too much to ask that the playmaker also be able to knock down jumpers and free throws? Especially on a team that's so reliant on the outside shot and getting to the foul line.

    What's a playmaker who can't shoot?

    Agreed.

If we could get Brewer and Dragic for a net cost of some combination like TPE space, 1st round pick, Papa, Tjones, Nick Johnson, 2nd round pick I would be ecstatic.

Still wouldn't love the big man rotation though.
