Dragic to the mavs worries me more than rondo to the mavs.

I totally agree. He'll get those perimeter guys better looks...easier shots...and add defense to a team that needs it. That needs to not happen.

I don't even really want Rondo but I don't want the Mavs to get Rondo. Sure, their bench will be terrible but finding decent bench players is much easier than finding great starters.

Here's to hoping Rondo goes to the Lakers!

What is your take on this? Have you heard what Boston wants in return for him?
Is there any chance he may be retained?

I think he would be awesome on the Mavs. Nelson sucks now and these guys are still a pretty good team. I think Rondo could be the guy that puts Dallas over the top.

As far as the return it sounds like 2 first rounders and Wright. Wright is ok but he's in a contract year so he's kind of a waste. I think Houston could put together a better package.

Also Rox could use their TPE to get a player to flip to Boston

But I doubt Houston will put together a better package. We are in contention right now, so there is no way we will give up anyone good to get Rondo. At most, we are talking Canaan and Capela.

Rondo is a championship piece. Come playoff time we'd all be ecstatic to have him here. If they can bring him in and keep Bev in the process, the Rockets would go into every game having the BEST PG rotation, the BEST SG, and the BEST big.

We all see the scrappy hustle plays that Bev makes and the effect that it has on winning games, now add a guy who brings the same thing plus a potential triple double on any given night.

I don't think we are in contention yet, but I partially agree with your thinking about how much the Rockets may be willing to give up for him.

Canaan/Capela plus the Pelicans pick may be the max for Rondo.

I would welcome Rondo, but hes not a good fit next to Harden. Don't chase the name.

I do not want Rondo on this team. Chemistry seems to be at an all time high with this squad, and Rondo is a player that can edge people the wrong way and just ruin team chemistry.

Rondo has impressive numbers but his shooting is horrific. We all know he is a horrid three point shooter, but he is also only 40% from the field and 33% from the line! He isn't finishing around the basket as well as he used to.

If Dallas really wants him, let them have him (but for a steep price). Make Dallas include two 1st rounders, maybe a few 2nds , Wright and Harris. Adding Rondo will take the ball away from Monta and/or Parsons. Now teams can double off Rondo. And, I would love to see Rondo ruin the team chemistry.

He would be a good pickup for the Mavs with time. It would take some adjusting that will probably cost them a few games.

I don't think Rondo would be the "perimeter defense savior" that all Mavs fans seem to be making him out to be, and Wright is a bigger loss for them than the typical NBA fan probably realizes.

Looking at it from the Celtics POV, it would essentially be a couple of mid-late 1st and whatever you could get for Wright at the trade deadline. Not a bad haul, but I can see why Boston would look for more.

I hope the Mavs give up the farm for Rondo. We will still beat them and they will be stuck with a non championship team for years to come.

No one on the farm the Celtics want from Dallas. They want the guys playing 14mpg.

So this is how this is working... A lot of you are asking how things go down etc.

Ainge is leaking all this to all the big reporters - Amick, Stein, Woj, Spears... Just to name a few.

He obviously has an agenda. He is trying to get the price up, up, up! He leaks the names of these teams so people can put their offers out there and compete. This is obviously his reasoning behind all this.

He really wants the Lakers to give their first (Rox first), Randle, and also Nash's expiring (which the costs are mostly covered by insurance).

It is now becoming more of a bidding war.
