Wright, a late first and some 2nd rounders just ain't gonna cut it. Sounds like that supposed Brooklyn deal for Dwight a few years ago. No one could make sense of it even though ESPN kept trying to say it would happen. All smoke.

Stein lives in Dallas and is a huge Mavs honk. What do you expect from him?

If they are discussion trading Rondo for a 8 year vet who will be a FA after the season and a couple of picks in the mid-20s, then one of two things are true.

    1. Rondo sucks a lot more than fans make him out to be, in which case missing out on him isn't a big deal

    or

    2. The reports are pure B.S. and only there so Ainge can squeeze more assets out of other teams.

It's pretty amazing that in the offseason, everyone laughed about the Rockets ability to offer a package for Rondo. Yet now, it seems the Rockets can most certainly trump every offer out there but simply choose not to. DMo and Pelicans pick are better than everything out there individually. But I don't think Morey values Rondo that highly.

Hmm, I thought offhand it wouldn't worked financially. I went and messed around with the trade machine and Wright+Harris works I guess. Still, given how crazy demanding the Celtics have been in the past, I doubt they are going to trade Rondo for Wright/picks and filler.

Assuming Wright is indeed traded, who is Chandlers backup? Greg Smith?

Jones, Terry, and the NOP pick are way better than Wright, Harris and a crappy Dallas first rounder.

Not to mention the Rockets could take back some salary with the TPE.

If Dallas gets Rondo for a song and the only thing Houston does it add someone like Brewer than that tells you all you need to know about Morey's opinion of Rondo.

Well he is 28 years old, coming off a major injury and will be a free agent. His offensive efficiency has been slowly decreasing for years. He is scoring 8 points a game on 9 shots. He is shooting 39% from the floor, 24% on 3's and a puzzling 30% on free throws. He cannot hit a high percentage from anywhere on the floor and no longer finishes well inside. Defensively he has gone from the second best defensive point guard in the NBA into the bottom 10%. He also has a reputation as a difficult teammate and fought with coaches.

He can still pass at a high level, he is an elite distributor but cannot play off ball at all.

So you tell me, what is that worth in trade?

That's the thing. I don't know. If you can guarantee me he returns to even 80% of prime Rondo, I'll love him on the team. But I don't think even that's a given. Plus he'll get money in the offseason if only for his name recognition.

Papa, Terry, Black and Pels pick for Rondo and Zeller. Then flip the Knicks pick and TE for Brewer.

If you think Harden and a Rondo are a bad fit, imagine Kobe and Rondo
