Rondo knows how to play in the playoffs having that experience to get through the pgs in the west would be an upgrade
Harden has very bad body language when he is being not the ball handler on the floor, this clearly showed in the last 2 seasons when he was playing with Lin. Rondo is a vastly improved defender than Lin and a much better organizer on offense, but his offense is worse than Lin and maybe Rubio also. The Rockets offense relies heavily on either low post plays or Harden penetration and kick out for 3 pointers. None requires great organizer (maybe other than better entry pass to Dwight / D-Mo). He is not a good fit here.
I posted this in the old Jeff Green thread. Jeff Green makes 9.2M and does not fit within our TPE from the Lin trade. Since the outgoing salary from the Celtics is less than 9.8M, the Rockets would have to send out 1.5x + 100,000 = 9,200,000 where x is the outgoing salary from the Rockets. This means that we would have to send ~ $6,066,667. We would have to give up either Terry (+$216,354 additional) or Kpap (+ $1,270,002 additional) in order to make this trade work. We have all seen what both Terry and Kpap have brought to this team so far this year so my question is: Would acquiring Jeff Green make up for losing Terry or Kpap?
We have been waiting so long. I think everybody just wants Morey to get a deal done so we dont have to f5 all day long.
Crazy Trade Machine Trade Lakers gets Rondo and Troy Daniels Boston gets Steve Nash, T Jones, Garcia and Houston's 1st Rounder from LA Houston gets Nick Young and Ed Davis Houston uses TPE on Brandon Bass and send Boston a 2nd Rounder Houston's depth would be strengthened Lakers get the star player they always look for Boston gets a 1st Rounder, a 2nd Rounder, a young good player in Jones, and about $10 million off the books. Crazy? Possibly but getting Bass and Young would help this team out a lot come playoff time Beverly/Canaan Harden/Terry Ariza/Young Dmo/Bass Howard/Ed Davis (be gentle guys and gals )
Rondo would make this offense unstoppable. Don't act like the Rockets offense doesn't completely sputter out of control for at least one quarter a game. So many people forget the Portland series. Guess what ladies and Gentleman. Your team is nearly identical. Yes, the defense is better, but the whistles will stop and Harden will still get doubled in the PNR.
That's what we do now because that's what the personnel dictates. If that was good enough we wouldn't be talking about making trades.
This. If we acquire rondo we would not only be more fast paced and explosive but we would also be able to slow it down. Which would be valuable in the post season.
Morey will NEVER trade for Nick Young. Period. He is the most selfish, ignorant, cancer of the team in the NBA.
What would be fun about a trade for Rondo would be that we could have random fans from the stands and mascots do FT shooting contests with Howard, Rondo, and Dorsey and it would be a laugh riot every single time.
92 playoff games under is belt with a ring and he knows how to close out games. A fresh Harden going into the playoffs would scare the heck out of many playoffs teams.
He traded for Ron Artest, Squid, and a young Kyle Lowry. Morey rolls the dice on players that can contribute. If they get out of hand/line, they get moved.
Well, that's why they are saying : if it ain't broke, why fix it? Didn't someone just say the Rockets are a real contender and on pace to win 60 games? So you want to trade for someone whose probably the 3rd or 4th option of your team and may not stay after the season ended and re-work your whole offense in the middle of the season around him?
He also is an opportunist and likes bargains. Maybe a player like Rondo is being sold at a bargain price due to Celtics going into a rebuilding direction. Who knows
Artest was a good defender, actually, he was a great defender and whatever baggage he had, he was still a good team player on the floor. Try to watch some of Nick Young's video and his shoot selection and you can draw your own conclusion.
