Looks like Atlanta and Detroit had talks about Monroe. I wonder if Horford is available?

I really have no idea why any team would trade for Monroe. Teams with cap space next year can just sign him during free agency, and teams that won't have cap space next year won't be able to resign him.

What's up with the Monroe situation now that Smith is gone?

Was the PF-logjam the main reason he wanted to leave or is he still going to ditch them if not traded?

And do you receive bird rights if he is traded?

The team that trades for him will not get bird rights.

There were rumors he wanted Smith gone and that was why he didn't want to be in Detroit. He denied that. There's no way of really knowing if it was/is true or not.

Unless things drastically change, it seems likely he's gone regardless anyway. He'll have offers and I'm guessing he'll find somewhere else he wants to be.

I do think dumping Smith now is Detroit's last effort to convince him to stay. Monroe will get a lot more touches and time now.

What does Monroe do thats better than DMo other than he was a lottery pick? DMo has better defense, is taller and has a better post game. If he was so good Detroit wouldnt shop him for a first round pick theyd keep him with Drummond. You probably havent even watched him play smh

I'd take dmo over Monroe too. Big numbers on a crappy team

I could see one scenario where a team would trade for Monroe , a contender weak at the big spots who thinks they can make a deep playoff run with the addition .... knowing full well that they couldn't resign him in the coming offseason.

Other than that situation , trading for Monroe is throwing away assets.

Monroe can just say NO. He loses Bird if traded. With Josh Smith out of the equation Pistons' future at the bigs must be decidedly different, to the point that Smith's being cut was very possibly one ploy to keep GM.

I don't see how 1 man can be coach and GM.

    Detroit looks like a disaster.

I like the idea of upgrading PG's and Bev off the bench.

But the backup C spot is the only real weak link that I'd take care off first.

Joey Dorsey having to play minutes against elite WC bigs in the playoffs terrifies me.
