Brewer has played almost all SF and PF this season. He hasn't primarily been a SG in 5 seasons.

If this really happens, the only scenario I see will make sense to the T-wolves :

Rockets trading Papa for Brewer straight up.

    Which means :

    - Rockets is all in for this season and there could be another big trade coming.
    - McHale convinced Morey for this move.

I will be shock if that's the case.

Brewer is a swing man. He plays both SG/SF. And he can play the 4 in a small-ball lineup.

You basically need 5 guys to man the 3 perimeter spots. There's plenty of room for Brewer.

And besides to get a second upgrade at PG and playmaker we're probably going to have to send out Kostas and Canaan anyways.

I think that Pap going to a third team (IE maybe Phoenix loves him) is a possible scenario. I really like Pap though.

Not really. They would be right at the cap line and possibly over it depending on what the cap projection is. That also means that they wouldn't be able to retain their key bench guy in Gerald Green who's value may be increasing with the season he is having

I can almost guarantee its not Brewer for Papa. DM needs Papa's contract to package in a bigger trade. Which is why Jet nor Papa is being traded unless it's for someone over $8.4M.

Trading Papa for Brewer makes no sense from a Rockets standpoint. Minny can ask for Papa all they want, it's not happening. 2 2nd rounders and perhaps Capela should be all it takes.

I was speaking to the point of someone saying we're getting both Brewer and Dragic.

Can't see Dragic happening without giving up Papa plus plenty others and Brewer fit into the Papa role.

I think once brewer is a rocket and we all see him play for us we will grow to love brewer.

The Rockets would not deal Pap Smear for Brewer, because Pap Smear's contract is valuable in a trade at the February deadline.

Would think picks will be moved for Brewer, but who knows.

So you are looking this at the Rockets standpoint, then tell me how does it make sense to you to keep both Papa and Brewer in the current rotation?

Assuming both healthy, you are going to play each 8-10 minutes?

What kind of trading value / developments you will get from Papa when you will him less than 10 minutes this season?

I like neither Bass or Brewer.

But if I need to make a choice at this point, assuming we are not trading away any rotation guys (assume we will cut Garcia or trade away Daniels for nothing),

I would rather take Bass than Brewer considering the help he can provide to our team.

Because you're using Brewer as a 2 month rental when you can flip him for a bigger fish come February.

You're thinking that we're dealing for Brewer to keep Brewer but the most logical plan is to deal for Brewer to package him down the road for another player. Hence, the lack of need to include valuable assets to obtain Brewer.

    Not so fast.

The Suns are going to be very close to the cap if they resign Dragic for close to the max. If they want to lock in a .500% team and exhaust their cap space, well...... good luck with that.

That is assuming Dragic even wants to resign with the Suns.

I would think Papa's value has already been established around the league, GMs know the kid can play.

Brewer can get minutes at the 2 and 3. He can have Harden's back up minutes (13-14) and half of Ariza's (6-7) which gives him 20 minutes without any injuries.

Pap Smear will get minutes at the 3 and 4. Pap will get almost all of the back up 4 minutes, and D-Mo will shift some minutes to the 5. That easily gives Pap 20 minutes without injuries.

What it does is keep dead wood like Garcia, Daniels and Black off the damn court.

If they really intend to keep Dragic then Thomas is a goner. Trading him won't be that difficult given that he's a good player on a good contract. If they move him and Plumlee they can open more salary cap room.

We are not a rebuilding team nor we are in a searching mode, this team is winning and every top 8 teams in the west this season will have a shot.

You do not just make a trade and thinking its just a chip for future trade in this situation.

As many other pointed out, Morey / McHale is looking for helps first, then best available players, and last will be the trade value.

Brewer offers the least in terms of help.

I don't like Bass' game at all, but at least I consider he can provide more help to the Rockets at this point.

You really think Black is dead wood? I feel like he moves very well off the ball and plays pretty solid defense. The guy isn't the most talented, but he certainly seems to play smart. I like his basketball IQ, playing 4 years of college, and graduating certainly helped him overcome his size differential.
