I think the Knicks and Calderon make a ton of sense with the TPE. Knicks need any assets they can get and it cuts almost $7.5M the next two offseasons. Yes, it also adds that figure to the Rockets, but I feel like Calderon is still a good enough piece that the Rockets could include him in a bigger trade for a superstar without him (and the contract) being a detriment. Meanwhile he adds a capable ball handler and outside shooter without costing much.

He's owed $15M guaranteed beyond this year. His contract will not be viewed as an asset or attractive piece to a larger trade.

If empty stats are what you seek and you want a player that can handle the ball and hit the outside shot, how about Kendall Marshall? He's 10 years younger and much cheaper.

Ronnie Brewer isn't a bad defender either. The problem is bball players have to play two ways. Just like Ronnie Brewer, Corey Brewer sucks a$$ on offense. I don't want him at all.

Corey Brewer is pretty good in transition and cuts well to the basket. He will get easy buckets with Harden.

You forgot about his defensive prowess:

Below whose radar? He was the national rumor du jour a week or two back.

Just curious - - if Rubio is 'all that' and will be back sooner than later + Vuk (due back when? I have no clue) then how much of a lotto team are the Wolves?

    These are inconsistent.

I agree the contract wouldn't be viewed as "an attractive" piece, but, as I said, I think he is a good enough player that it wouldn't be viewed as a detriment at $7.5M a year. I think that is especially true in an aggregate environment where, no matter what, the team trading the 3rd star type player would be saving a good bit of salary into the future. If not, we at least get a capable player at a position of need.

To use the TPE, we will likely have to take back a player that either has almost 0 value on the court or has value on the court, but has future gauranteed years. I'd rather take the player with on court value and a decent contract than the risk of just adding a salary to agregate in a February deal and hope we get something done. Because if you can't get a big February deal done, you lose the TPE without any benefit for 2014 or the future.

I'm well aware. However, I know we aren't going to get a complete player for the TPE. It is even very unlikely we get a complete player via the TPE AND then an aggregate February deal that brings a better (and much higher salaried) player.

But Calderon's really bad on defense. I like that he's a true point guard but his defense is.....baaaad.

Thanks for listing 1/3 of the NBA, Adrian, really hard hitting stuff.

Except TPE's won't work properly on the Trade Machine, so it still doesn't work too well for Rockets fans.

Yeah, and I'm still intrigued by what Canaan is going to do at the PG spot. I want to see if he's going to become more than just a 3 point shooter.

Didn't McHale draft Brewer back in 2007?
