He is the best they can do at this time if they want an experienced HC.
You know he is getting stoked.

    Royce White? smh

I thought Malone was doing a good job with what he had to work with.

Philosophical differences? Like as in Royce White not being a competent NBA basketball/functional person?

LOL, right because 12 year old girls basketbal = NBA. I'm pretty sure inbounding the ball and avoiding a back court trap isn't quite as hard when you have elite athletes.

The Kings are sliding faster and faster into the mediocrity/irrelevance cycle, and they don't even realize it.

When your boss has unrealistic expectations it's probably best to go work for someone else.

If the Kings get Karl, I wouldnt be surprised if the Kings find a way to get to the playoffs this year. George Karl would be terrific for the Kings, especially for Cousins. But more so than that...I really thought the Malone firing was terrible. He was doing good things with that team. This is totally a "difference in philosophy" firing.

Who knows if it's going to work. It probably won't. But the only way to know is to try and fail fast.

Lots of stuff bubbles up into the pros from amateur ranks. There's a lot more innovation and experimenting there because of lower stakes. Basketball is no different.

I think if you could somehow assemble a team of 12 beastly NBA quality full court pressers and go 48 min with it, it would be very interesting.

Frankly it's not like the Kings have that much to lose. They're not going to make the playoffs this year. Why not experiment with some disruption instead of just ugly old Hinkietanking? I applaud that more than I do tanking or gamely chasing what is realistically shaping up to be a 38 win season. Useless in the West.

george karl would seem to fit the proposed innovative experiments, and his 90's sonics teams basically trapped and pressed nonstop.

The Kings are 2-8 in their last 10 games.
    Cousins missed 9 of those.
    They were 9-5 before.

While some teams can withstand losing their best player - because they typically have a "second" best player - the Kings clearly can not...

There may be a better coaching fit out there, but Malone did not deserve to be fired over this.

    AND... Stauskas is horrible.

Why even mention that he's Indian? What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Ranadive is a 100x smarter than everyone in this thread, even if you you challenge his basketball acumen, you can't challenge his judgement when it comes to surrounding himself by those who do have a vast amount of knowledge. He is responsible for that town keeping the team and he will be the one to turn that franchise around. It doesn't always come down to losing when firing a coach, it could have been a Mark Jackson scenario where they didn't see eye to eye, and when he got fired everybody thought the warriors were crazy. Hell, we fired Adelman (who overachieved like crazy..) and hired McHale, thats a lot worse than what the Kings did.

Randier has started by going hard for Stauskas and now this.

Adelman has become an overrated coach.

    That's all

Being smart and running a successful basketball team are two different things. I'd rather Larry Bird run my franchise than Stephen Hawking. And I think people are on solid ground to criticize this move and other he's made. He's treating the Kings like a tech startup disrupting a market, and in the process trying to fill the roster with low-IQ headcases. But tech startups, unlike a professional basketball team, can just fold if it doesn't work out. In this case if the likes of Josh Smith and Rudy Gay don't get it done, he's wasted 5 years+ of flexibility. I think it's legit to criticize regardless of his academic resume.

If they hire George Karl thinking he is a "yes man", the fireworks will be glorious.

They probably wanted to have Malone play their very difficult first month and a half schedule and kick him on bad record. That didn't happen so they went philosophical.

Have you 4 on 5 advocators played organized mens basketball at a marginally competitive level before? Because it doesn't sound like it.

This concept is the equivalent of a coach telling a WR to pickup another WR and put that WR on his shoulders so the QB can hit a 13ft target uncontested.

The more you try to post about that validity behind it the more I get cancer.

Hey you know what else won't work? Hurry up offense and a midget white QB who likes to run and swaggercopters BECAUSE SEC NOBODY CAN DEAL WITH SEC DEFENSE

Better the Kings continue to be mediocre in the conventional way.

Seriously stop being such b****es about it. The Kings are experimenting wiht non-traditional approaches to basketball to get an advantage; they really have nothing to lose. Why are people so offended?

I don't think anyone is offended. People are expressing their opinions that 4 on 5 is a stupid idea at the NBA level.

I'm all for it when other teams try stuff that seems idiotic.
