I seriously doubt it. Even if possible, and it isn't, that trade would probably murder the Rockets' chemistry. I don't think you just plug a guy like Carmelo in, and I think adding him to the core is too risky.
He declined to join the Rockets before the season started. He is considering to join GSW. I am assuming you are talking about Ray Allen.
DMtheGM is on a Howard ("bone on bone") timeline --> his goal is win a championship not have the most / best assets. The role players may not be an all-star but will help hang a banner at the gym and that is his goal. Howard is now on the back side of his career. Howard plays well in the play-offs and took a group of role player to the finails --> Harden and crew are better than the Magic team finalists he took early on in his career. With just a small trade and health --> I think we are there. Time is not our friend at the moment. Cash-in at or before the trade deadline before time runs out with this group of Rockets.
This team is already so close so getting rid of any of the starters would be grave mistake. Add AK47 and Born Ready. And the team would be set for championship run. And both players could be had for pennies on the dollar.
We need to add another person that can create. I think it could be someone that creates for themselves or others. Get a decent backup 7 foot backup and hit the playoffs.
A couple of possible teams to trade with: Pacers - Mahinmi and CJ Watson would be great off the bench Nuggets - Lawson would be an awesome pickup but Mozgov is probably more in our price range. T-wolves - Mo Williams would be a pretty good back up PG New York - Dalembert could be a last resort option to solidify the back up C
Let's not. We don't need a PG more than 1-2 front court players. We don't need to trade our most productive bench player and one of the few guys on the team with championship experience to get said PG
When healthy I don't think they need a big - Howard , DMo & Jones are a nice three man rotation with Black & Dorsey for emergency or mop up minutes. Add in KPap getting minutes at the PF spot on occasion and they are pretty much set. Even with Howard , DMo & Black they are pretty solid as the latter has been very productive (especially on the offensive glass). I don't think they need a "Point Guard" either but what they do need is another guy who can create his own shot & facilitate the offense while being able to knock down open shots & defend at a high level. I'd prefer a combo guard. I'd love to have Courtney Lee in that spot ..... But that's not happening as he's a key cog in Memphis. Dragic is a guy in that mold - probably better at creating his shot and facilitating the offense and despite the fact that he makes considerably more $$$ may actually be attainable. Arron Afflalo is another guy I wouldn't mind picking up Denver might let him go if they fall out of the playoff race .... He fits the exception and wouldn't be hard to move with one year left if they needed to create cap space (not the 1st round pick that it cost to move Lin & his $15m final year). Orlando might cut Luke Ridnour loose for cheap or C.J. Watson from Indy. Quite a few guys out there that could help this team that are in the final year of their deals and fit in the Lin TPE or only take up a fraction of it leaving the rest to shore up other positions. You could add one of Ridnour or Watson and still have enough of the TPE left over to pick up a guy like Dalembert or Mozgov. Man there are a lot of options to wade thru .... We should have some clarity in the next week as to what Morey's plans are between now & the deadline. Small move now , big move later or just shore up the bench with players teams are willing to shed that fit the Morey MO of final year contracts that can be absorbed by the TPE.
I don't watch much of Greg Monroe....how well would he fit in with us? Pistons are asking for a first rounder for him. Maybe send a few fillers and a first and absorb his contract with the TPE
problem is Monroe has to agree to the trade and by all accounts he won't, he wants to keep his bird rights
But would Detroit resign him for his bird rights to even matter? They clearly want to get rid of him.
Without those bird rights , he's not worth what they are asking for him. Basically he's just a one year rental or costs you cap space to resign .... Can you see Morey giving away a #1 for a rental or using the cap space he has in FA next year to resign him ?? I cant.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=qd3p6n6 Assuming the Jazz deal and Suns deal happened at seperate times. PHX gets the Pelicans pick.
Four team trade - Brooklyn Nets in: Lance Stephenson, Tarik Black Charlotte Hornets in: Jason Terry, Terrence Jones Houston Rockets in: Kevin Garnett, Goran Dragic (Lin TPE) Phoenix Suns in: Cody Zeller
