A word of warning. NBA GMs are underhanded and devious because of their nature. They are also secretive. Even people like Woj are being manipulated mercilessly by NBA front offices. Given the current make up of the Rockets it would surprise the crap out of me if Morey made a move before the trade deadline. And then only if he can pick up on an absolute fire sale by another team. TPEs are really not very valuable in today's NBA. This Rockets team is looking like they need nobody to compete for the championship. Absolutely nobody.
Offensively Thaddeus Young is what Terrence is going to become or is or Terrence is going to become what Thaddeus Young is or is. Neither player can score the ball efficiently but on layups/dunks. Defensively Thad Young would be a significant upgrade to what we are running out there around Dwight and DMo. He's very active, very fast, quick, and he disrupts the passing lanes, and gets his hands on a lot of passes. He'd benefit us defensively. However, he does clog the cap for 2015-16 and I don't think he would come cheap enough in trade.
Awesome post... I honestly think The Rockets can win it all with its current roster..... In fact, I don't even want to trade for anyone in fear that team chemistry will be ruined. Wish we could all just enjoy what we have instead of whoring our players left and right....Lets trade Bev, lets trade DMO, lets trade Jones, What can we get Harden?, What can we get for Howard?... That's all there is to talk about here now and days... Lets completely ignore that this is the best Rockets team we have had since the championship years.... Lets talk about trades.... And then when we do trade for someone lets talk about who we are going to trade them for..... I freaking love our current team... I want all of them to stay so we can see them holding up that trophy at the end of the year..
Not even if he came with a first??? I think Morey would def do that. But even if he didn't, why is there so much trepidation for an Artest like player? Morey pulled the trigger on this type of player and it payed huge dividends with Tru Warrier. Like Panda, Stephenson is a tiger on D and adds an intensity and toughness to the team. Also loves to run and makes fewer mistakes when the offense is wide open and free flowing (like the Rockets). Stephenson is also a very good ball handler, much better than anyone on the Rockets not named Harden. Could be a terror when team plays small, or against stretch 4s. Most importantly, he could be had for next to nothing. Its too bad the off field stuff has devalued him so much, but at the same time, this is why I would want him. He would be great value. If he causes problems, sit him or trade him. But if Harden ever went down for a stretch, we would all be thanking our lucky stars.
for people that are content with this roster, fyi, we don't stand a chance against the clips and okc...they've dominated us over the past 2 years and that's the competition i'm wary of if we make the playoffs morey has got to do something about this
And how could you know that? Have the Rockets played LAC or OKC at full strength this year? Are you some NBA savant who has a crystal ball or whatever? I think not. In all probability you are a slightly clueless fan who's opinion is heavily colored by past experience. This year the Rockets do not have to worry about the LAC or OKC. GSW however ...
Hah. I guess I should have gotten some context. Didn't catch up on any Lance news. I was probably more perturbed by the comment that Morey ruins team chemistry but that's another discussion. My fault.
Agree. Full strength we are tough to beat...by any team. I think the Rockets have the speed, D, and 3 point threat to match GSW...i'm honestly not that worried about them either. I think Kerr is their biggest difference but we can slow them down with our new lockdown D. We kept both games close with GSW and were short Dwight (both times) and the last game it was Harden + the D league. I agree, lets (FINALLY) allow this team to grow together and develop some chemistry...the grass isn't greener anywhere else, we have the 3rd best record in the league and haven't even played at full strength yet.. the rise of DMO, Terry, emergence of Papa, solid play by Black and the emergence of Canaan make me more stoked about this team than any since Yao-TMAC were supposed to lead us to the promise land. Morey 'got 'er done' and now should just chill and let this team evolve. We got this!
so when morey says in radio interviews this year, 'we're aiming to have a favorable first round matchup', he's just saying it for the giggles, right? he knows that we have trouble lining up against those teams. we don't have a good enough point guard to defend westbrook and cp3 for a full 48 minutes. i'm curious to see us at full strength also, but in a best of 7 series against those two teams particularly, we just don't matchup well with them. against OKC, perkins and adams abuse and shut down dwight. our guys shrink. at full strength, OKC is a far superior team and really play harden well. i'm not content with not having a playmaker outside harden against those teams, which is why i think having someone like dragic is a necessity against the clips, we've seen solid contribution all the way around from crawford to griffin, from redick to cp3, we just haven't been able to stop them on defense, and i've noticed in those games, our players kinda fizzle down in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. calling me clueless is a bit of a reach when you have a GM that shoots constantly for a 3rd star because he himself realizes we don't stand a chance against those two teams in particular in a series. outside getting a favorable matchup in the first round, we gotta play these teams somewhere down the line, and to have offensive contribution from another star when two others can't contribute is huge, which is why teams like memphis, okc, dallas, spurs, clippers, and now warriors can succeed.
I would add a taller body to back up Dwight in the center position. Dorsey is okay but black gets abused. Our turnovers have also killed us, if we get a good ball handler that can make good entry passes to the post we could easily shore up our turnover problems.
Come on man, you can't tell me that you really think the Rockets wouldn't get dominated by the Thunder in a 7 game series. Ibaka DESTROYS Harden, Perkins LOCKS DOWN Dwight, Westbrook is pretty much un-effected by Bev's defense, and they have a 7' SF who is one of the best scorers the NBA has ever seen. They'd be lucky if it went to 6 games. I'm not as afraid of the Clippers, but I still wouldn't bet on the Rockets beating them. As for the Warriors, they're overrated, they may end up as the 1 seed, but at best they're the 3rd best team in the west this year (behind the Thunder and Spurs).
I do not believe he will be traded 'for next to nothing'. I also don't believe there are enough minutes at the 2/3 and would shudder with him, or Trevor, closing out games at the 4.
The player we pick-up must not screw-up the chemistry of the team. That is why I do not want a pure point guard to come in. A combination guard or a wing is all that is needed --> push Harden down to the point (He is ball domonate anyway) & sub for Harden, too.
I would be much more comfortable playing the Warriors over the Clippers/Thunder. I think we can matchup on size and the two games we played were pretty close without Dwight. GSW is a bit overrated imo.
You can't add a chemistry killer when half your team is in suits on the bench. Plus how can you call x player a chemistry killer before you even find out who x player is? Dumb post
I can tell you that the Rockets will not get dominated by OKC or the LAC in a playoff series. Am I wrong or did not the series two seasons ago go to six games without Howard, Ariza and that top 2 defense in the NBA? And D-Mo. Has anyone even come close to shutting that post game down? Isn't it a bit awkward for other teams that D-Mo is almost unstoppable 1v1 in the post, is one of the best big man passers in the NBA and Howard will be playing weak side? Sounds frightening to me. As players get healthy the offense will turn around. And it is obvious that despite injuries that top two defense is not going anywhere. As players return start looking for boring blow out wins for the Rockets.
