OKC needs to try something different. They have never improved themselves after shipping out Harden, nothing to help them take the next step. Maybe a low post threat like Monroe shakes things up a bit for them

Makes some sense for this year on court. Ibaka, an athletic shot blocker who can also shoot jumpers, is an ideal match for Monroe on paper.

But Monroe's contract status (having accepted the 1 yr tender offer as an RFA) is such that if he gets traded, his new team will not have Bird Rights on him (he also has to approve the trade).

OKC's payroll appears to be such that they won't have the necessary cap room to sign Monroe to a market value deal, which should be at or near the max, without Bird Rights. So retaining Monroe will be an issue beyond this season.

They are there. They just had some injuries

    makes zero sense.

Monroe does not play good defense and is a water down version of Ibaka - whom proved he can not create his own shoots nor he can be the guy to make the players around him better.

Meanwhile Jackson has very high value both in usage and trades, Westbrook got hurt quite easily and often, without Jackson to be his solid backup, that will be a horrible situation, not to mentioned Jackson is probably the better choice than Lamb in the 2 spot also.

I will be shock if the Thunders will make this trade.

If I knew he would sign back, I would gladly give a first for Monroe

Monroe off the bench would skyrocket us to potential finals favorites.

Damn... I'm not sure he can play PF, but he is a really nice player.

If we didn't have Dwight, Greg Monroe and Donatas Motiejunas would make such a skilled front court...

We already have two guys who need a bunch of post ups in an offense with not very much spacing.

We could absorb Monroe's contract into our TPE and trade them NOP's pick. Alternatively we can absorb Jennings contract into the TPE, and trade Jones, Canaan and Garcia for Monroe. We would have a lot of salary to play with at the trade deadline and still have cap flexibility for 2016. We would have a three headed front court monster of D-Mo, Monroe, and Howard. Giving black about 8 minutes a game, we can actually keep the front court guy's minutes sub 30. The minutes could be distributed like this:

    Howard (30) / Monroe (18)
    D-Mo (30) / Monroe (12)/ Black (6)
    Ariza (30) / Pap (18)
    Harden (30) / Terry (12) / Johnson (6)
    Beverley (30) / Jennings (12) / Terry (6)

Jennings might even provide some scoring punch of the bench and would be an adequate back up to Bev.

Don't see the point of having him here unless we really think that this is our year. He won't resign with us to be a backup and he'll get more on the open market anyway. I could see Phoenix making a move-maybe Dragic for Monroe? Or maybe the Celtics trade Rondo for him?

I really don't want OKC to get him. They'd be hard to score on.
