So can we name any one PF not named any of the above that can hold the above guys... I am going to assume none. The benefit of Dmo is posting up and making him accountable on offense. Not letting our opponent have free range on Harden or Howard... making them play 5 on 5.
Right, the West has great PFs and there is no super PF who can hold all of those guys. But there are PFs who can make life harder for those guys and in that way limit their effectiveness. Is DMo one of those guys? I'm not sure, and I lean towards No. We'll see and I hope I'm wrong, but I still view PF as our weakest position.
A truly excellent analysis. I would believe that Ariza would guard Durant, and hopefully hold him to his season average. The rest of those power forwards (except maybe for Blake) are actually slower than D-Mo. For a truly huge man D-Mo is very quick and exceptionally fast. IMHO LMA is a dream match up for D-Mo. He is quicker, bigger and fundamentally an exceptional defender. The same is true in varying degrees against Gasol/Randolf/Dirk/Duncan. D-Mo is either bigger or quicker or both against any of those players. But I have no doubt we will actually see the outcome.
Nobody can truly check those guys, that's why they're stars. It's about keeping them from controlling the game, and D-Mo can most certainly do that as good as any player you will find. People still don't seem to realize how good D-Mo's defense is.
D-Mo's play for the past 3 weeks has been more than impressive. I know we had very good contributions from Ariza and Terry, but the main pillars during this most unforgiving stretch of injuries have been Harden and D-Mo. If Morey calls Phoenix and proposes a D-Mo + fillers for Dragic, the Suns will say yes faster than you know what minute. In addition, D-Mo's is easily reproducible in that he already had the skills that he has been displaying. It was just a question of getting tougher, something I wrongfully assumed he did not have. I was very wrong.
DMo gives the Rockets the luxury of being able to guard most Centers, allowing Howard to guard certain PF's that DMo does not match up well with. In fact, when DMo played so well against Memphis, he never really played against Randolph -- the Rockets put him on Gasol (who he matches up well with) and let the lower center of gravity guys like Black and Dorsey take on Randolph. Now, imagine Howard doing the same instead of Black and Dorsey -- even better. Same thing with the Clippers and Blazers. If Donatas struggles with those scoring 4's, neither of those teams have a center that demands to be guarded by Howard. In fact, last season Howard did a great job against Griffin, but Jones struggled to keep Jordan off the boards -- DMo has the size to box him out much better.
I would sell him while he is high. Unless they want him to be the permanent starting PF. That is different.
Oh man, do even watch the games? Or are you just some provocateur stirring up trouble constantly and hoping to be right once in a blue moon? I believe the answer to both those questions is yes.
yo guys can we at least *****ing wait until the team. is. healthy. ????? before trading anyone????? Like seriously dog, this group of guys are winning. If the Daryl makes a trade it will likely be to obtain assets, but I really don't think he's desperate to upgrade the squad. I expect a trade, but a Jordan Hamilton-esque trade, ya know? I'm glad DM is our gm because some of you are just trigger happy when it comes to trades. Just be patient, man.
