No disrespect... but you really believe DMo has a higher trade value than Dragic? So yer thinking DMo for Dragic straight up (using the exception) would be a bad deal for the Rox? Seriously? I don't know that even adding the Pelicans pick to DMo would score us Dragic... lol
Dragic is a 29 yo on an expiring contract (well its a player option, so injury risk is the teams), Dmo is a 24 yo on the 3rd year of a rookie scale, so you're talking about nearly 3 years and potentially up to 6 or 7 years of control vs less than 1. Dmo is also a scarce resource (skilled bigman) whilst point guards are the nba's version of the junk bond. So if you put them head 2 head in a trade, which player do you think gets more back from another team?
Dragic every time.... I appreciate that DMo has had a couple good games here and there... but c'mon... last year we woulda shuffled him off for a 2nd rd pick... He may have increased his value to a late 1st rd.... but the price for Dragic is gonna start at a mid 1st rounder - then it would be "what else?" DMo + pelicans pick is prob still not enough to get Dragic...
who on earth would pay that much? If that's what they want, then their demands will never even come close to the value the other 29 teams would offer. You understand he can just turn around and sign with someone else at the end of the season right?
We don't need Dragic, that's what is funny about these idiots. The combination of Beverly and Canaan is good enough to win us a ship at PG. What we would have to give up in order to acquire Dragic would almost nullify the benefits.
Motiejunas isn't going anywhere... The Motiejunas/Dwight potential is just toooooo high. We could KILL the Grizz at their own game with those 2 guys, and when the game slows down in the playoffs we will jump hook teams to death on the low block. If there is a trade to be made, it will be whatever guy we trade for in the next week, and then perhaps Papa & Terry for salary filler... (I would hate to lose either one...)
It’s mind-boggling how quickly DMo’s stock is rising in the minds of fans. I bet if someone said no to DMo for Dragic trade in the offseason, no one would take him seriously.
The people saying we can trade D-Mo, are the ones who haven't fully come around to just how phenomenal he will be in the future. I won't be saying he will replicate Hakeem on the post... but if he keeps his confidence up there's no better offensive talent in the post. None. In the entire league. You don't trade that. Especially when the big man is a dying breed in today's NBA. If the current roster is healthy come Playoff time - I'm ready to go all in with them. If I had to make one move I'd love for a player ala Wilson Chandler/Corey Brewer to come in for the bench to spell Harden minutes more consistently throughout the regular season.
But this isn't the offseason anymore. And D-Mo is not the same D-Mo as he was then. It's night and day. He isn't some kid who's rushing everything he does when he touches the ball. Are you seeing what he's doing to NBA frontlines? And this was WITH the best opposing interior defender on him. Now Dwight's back - it is going to be the SECOND best... oh lord.
Dmo has a very unique skillset, one that we were never sure if it'd transfer, but due to it, he's been as Lowe puts it, straight clowning people, even MVP candidates. In his post moves, there's literally no weakness, you can't send him baseline, you can't send him inside, you can't send him left, you can't send him right (Dwight for example, you want to send him inside to his right), whats a scouting report for Dmo's post game look like? can shoot with either hand, from anywhere within 10 feet. You know how many other players have that? Zero. How do you defend that? hope he misses. A "hope he misses but he probably won't" isolation skill is a star level skill. Yes he needs to improve on a few things still (notably his pick and roll finishes, he's still a bit soft on them imo, i wish he'd go after the defender if they're in the restricted zone), his defense could use a little more refinement (but its gotten pretty decent now, he's already a better defender than most pfs, and he's never going to be in that Iblocka realm) and i don't want to see him shoot another non corner 3 again.
I am seeing a player who has played like an above-average PF/C for maybe 15 games. Even Linsanity lasted longer than this. Surely history would suggest that DMo is more likely going to regress than continue this production. I would much prefer to be wrong, if I were a betting man, I'd bet on DMo being more of a normal role player than a stud.
History suggest big men take longer to develop. If you think D-Mo's skill-set is of an 'above-average PF/C' than I'm sorry, I just don't know how to continue on with this. So D-Mo's marked improvement defensively is also a fluke? There comes a time when a player turns a corner - you're seeing it with D-Mo. I have seen one post move I can remember in this recent stretch where he has rushed his shot. He is bamboozling defenders. Can't go that way? Ok I'll spin back here. What you've blocked that off too? Ok let's see if you like this pump fake. Not falling for it? Sure why don't I spin back this wa-HA tricked you it was a fake spin now I've just extended for an easy lay in. Name me ONE big man in the league who does that? I already know the answer - it is none. NO ONE IN THE LEAGUE has the offensive moves that D-Mo has. NO ONE.
Is this a joke? D-Mo has a dozen good games and now he's the best post player in the league? I'm super excited about his improvement but let's get a grip guys. This might be D-Mo's best stretch ever, and might be the last time he does it. The way people are talking about D-Mo you'd think he's done this for an entire season.
Linsanity was 6 games, and there were very clear flaws in his game that once a team that with an adequate defense clued in, completely shut him down.
