I don't see how its even close in either MVP or Coach of the year .... They have to go to Harden & McHale at this point.

No other team has dealt with the adversity this squad has in terms of injury & players missing time.
Add to that the way things went down in the offseason.

I hate McHale's offense but you have to give the guy credit for this team going 17-5 while missing three starters & five rotation players. They have started the same lineup no more than 4 times .... Getting huge contributions from end of the bench guys and Hardens heroics game after game .... posting W's against good teams , not just the bottom feeders.

Sure Kerr's squad has the leagues best record & Curry is playing fantastic .... but they haven't dealt with any adversity and have played a rather weak schedule. They haven't had to do it without Curry or Thompson .... and two other starters.

The McHale situation this year kind of reminds me of Gary Kubiak in 2012. There were injuries that season, but we went 12-4. Kubiak was hailed as being a "player's coach" that created a positive environment in the locker room. The next season, we went 2-14, and Kubiak didn't make it through the year.

Kerr has a case too, but McHale should be front runner.

I think he will have low usage from here on out. Hopefully more PnR plays that post ups. Just led DMO handle the post ups. Changed it up to confuse defensive schemes.

So you weren't blaming him last year when the defense was bad right?

If McHale as a coach gets blamed for the poor decisions last year then he should get credit for the great performance this, how the **** do you even justify blaming "Mcfail" for poor D and first round exit last year and not credit him for great D and 3rd best record this year? If the defensive coordinator gets credit now then you should retract everything you said about McHale last year since apparently he no impact on team performance

    In the regular season.

Not saying we cant be a 3 point heavy team. But would be good to have some mid-range shooters or dimension especially when the team has tired legs

Don't let our assistant coach quit 3 weeks before the playoffs and substitute Trevor Ariza and we win that series.

Basketball is not football and the Rockets organization is not incompetent.

So far he is doing ok but the only was to prove himself if he takes us past first round, am sorry but the only reason why we are 17-5 is because of James Harden period.

To explain--James Harden started playing better during the olympics. Those are the coaches who should be thanked for his improved play.

Mchale is what he is--a players coach who has the respect of his players. He can be good motivationally but some of his decisions are not the best. (Ex-playing Francisco Garcia who is shooting 22% from 3pt) The great record so far can be attributed to the play of James Harden, plus a little luck in the close games.

I don't think Mchale is the worst coach in the league but I do not think he is among the best. I don't think he deserves coach of the year at all. George Karl could do better with this team.

mchale is doing a great job this year. He looks improved as a coach. I might be wrong , didnt we add 1-2 significant assistant coaches this offseason. I think alot of credit has to be paid to them also. Same thing is happening with Kerr, he has really good assistant coaches this year.

Who would you recommend he play in Garcia's place? Daniels and his porous defense? Cisco's shot may be broken, but he consistently plays solid D.

If good, therefore in spite of Mchale
If bad, therefore because of Mchale

He'll never be able to improve in your mind with that mindset

I'm truly in awe of the cognitive dissonance Mchale brings though

Morey says coaching doesn't make much difference, it's on the players, he's crazy,

Queue team wins tons of games short handed under Mchale

    It's not Mchale, it's Harden
