I'm still waiting on one of you overly optimistic trade theorists to bet me on this upcoming deadline. Easy money. Outline the parameters, and let's make a deal. I'm betting Bass is about the best we'll get. Dragic, Millsap, etc. = pipedreams. Just a big waste of time typing up pages and pages of far fetched conjecture.
Bingo. Here is another ideal target. Houston does not have to trade a second round pick for Richardson, Houston can have him for free. By "him," I mean "his contract.". Again, all Moreyreally needs here is a relatively large ($6-$8 mil) expiring contract. If you can get Wilson Chandler, great, or Tayshaun Prince, okay, but if you have to settle for Jason Richardson, i.e., Jason Richardson's contract, you do it.
If we can't get a star. Timberwolves would be a good trade partner ( and were one of the teams that thought they had a trade already with Houston) Corey brewer and maybe Ronnie Turiaf or gorgui dieng for depth at the front and backcourt
As previously explained, over and over again, you are trading for the $6.6 mil expiring contract, not the player attached to it. Then, before the Feb 19 trade deadline, you trade Richardson's contract, maybe with other players, maybe with draft picks, maybe with both, maybe also with Jason Terry's expiring contract, or Kostas Papanikolaou's expiring contract. Ideally, you trade for a medium-sized expiring contract belonging to a somewhat useful player, such as Wilson Chandler, or Tayshaun Prince. Daryl Morey probably has already secured a Jason Richardson offer, and he is trying to leverage that for a better offer. For example: Morey: "We will take Tayshaun Prince's $7.7 mil expiring contract off your hands. He is barely playing for you and you'd save a ton of money." Memphis GM: "Only if you throw in a second round pick." Morey: "No, I can get Jason Richardson instead, and I won't have to give up anything. Do you want to save millions of dollars or not?" Memphis GM: "I think you'd much rather have Prince. Richardson can't even play!" Morey: "I'd rather have Prince, sure, but I won't give up any draft picks. I will pull the trigger on Jason Richardson at 4 p.m. on December 19 if I can't get a better offer. I will not trade draft picks. All I really care about is the big expiring contract." Memphis GM: "I'll think about it, but Prince is in high demand." Morey: "Yeah, right! December 19 at 4 p.m. Have a nice weekend!"
Morey's not hoarding the 2nd round picks he's obtained. Right now I think we have a bunch from the Knicks and the Kings that are fairly decent. If it's Jason Richardson for nothing or Tayshaun Prince for a 2nd round pick, he'll take Prince and have him be an extra body.
Man, I hope we use this TPE soon to get a decent rotation player. Harden and the few other healthy guys on this team are going to die if we don't get them some help.
If the Koufos for Waiters deal goes through, Memphis may be looking to get a backup big for Tay Prince. Dorsey perhaps?
Five months after swearing his allegiance to New York and signing a five-year, $124 million contract, sources told The Post the All-Star forward would be open to dropping his no-trade clause if team president Phil Jackson strikes a deal with a team Anthony would like to play for. Part of Anthony’s deal included the rarely used no-trade provision. “He thought things would be better than this, but he still wants to stick it out for now, ’’ a source said. “He trusts Phil, but I think he’s afraid of Phil.’’ “I’m willing to be patient,” Anthony said Sept. 30. “Now, how long am I willing to be patient? I can’t tell you that. But I’m willing to be patient.” “I’ve told him it might be a good idea to hang in here and see what it’s like for a year,’’ Jackson said at the time. “I just offered that this gives you an opportunity to see how this is going to change, how we’re going to get it going.’’ If Jackson looks to trade Anthony, the Bulls would be the obvious candidate. They pursued him heavily in the offseason, and the new documentary on his free agency tour depicted how close Anthony came to asking Jackson for a sign-and-trade to Chicago since he didn’t want to accept the $74 million offer the Bulls had room for under the cap. http://nypost.com/2014/12/12/carmelo-anthony-will-consider-waiving-no-trade-clause-source/
Wat? Dudley for Bledsoe Gortat for 1st Scola for Green, Plumlee and 1st They didn't trade Frye because they were fighting for the playoffs. And the Morris twins' contracts are very reasonable.
I would fully support trading for Carmelo. Jason Richardson and Casper Ware to the Rockets for the Lin TPE Richardson, Ware, Terry and Kostas for Melo. Beverley / Cannan / Johnson Harden / Garcia / Daniels Ariza / Melo Melo / Jones / Dorsey Howard / Dmo / Black Then we could still use Jones and the Pelly pick to get ANOTHER upgrade.
Since when has a true superstar player with plenty of years left in the tank ever been traded for essentially nothing but expiring contracts? Also... .we are getting that "report" from Berman of the Post. Go ask Frank Isola how credible Berman of the Post is. I do think that Phil would consider trading him if certain circumstances presented themselves IE needing to rebuild next year and striking out in 2015 free agency. I think Melo is a Knick until next year at the earliest. At that point maybe he's just worth expirings and whatever else, but right now, the teams that would be trading for him (Chicago, Phoenix, Boston, possibly GS, Sacramento) all have some very good assets to offer New York. No way the Rockets could get away with not giving up multiple draft picks, young talent, and expirings at least to get him.
To get Melo: Papa + Terry + TPE Player + NOP pick And maybe Beverley (Canaan) + Jones (D-Mo) + Another picks He's a superstar. We'll have to give a lot of things.
I'm not combining TPE with players. First Morey has to trade the TPE for a player until Dec 19. After, probably in trade deadline make a package for Melo.
Carmelo Anthony says a published report stating that he is considering waiving his no-trade clause to green light a trade for the New York Knicks is false. "Come on, man. After all the work I did to get here and get back here? If I was to get up and want to leave now that would just make me weak, make me have a weak mind," Anthony said on Friday morning. "I've never been a person to try to run from any adversity or anything like that so I'm not going to pick today to do that."
Why would we want that trash bag?
