Put me definitely in the camp against adding guys hanging on for just one or two more years in the NBA. No matter our championship aspirations, I just have this stinking feeling that Houston is notorious around the league as a destination you go to if you want to a.) settle down and make the most of your NBA savings; and b.) "Cash Dem Checks" on a franchise gullible enough to give you one last contract. For a many-year veteran, all your life you've been busting your ass trying to earn your keep in the NBA, and when it comes time for that last year's check the temptation is too great, just to take your foot off the pedal and have a de facto retirement one year before you actually get booted from the league. I think Morey knows this now and is also leery to take on FA's with projections of playing just one more year. They might look like ringchasers on the outside, but on the inside they're just a Cashin' Dem Checks player.
Makes sense. My guess is the Rockets gave Ray a "take it or leave it" date. Would be entirely too risky to chase Allen with the full MLE into September and then have no one left, should he decline. (FC Barcelona's schedule begins on Oct. 1, and I'm sure Papanikolaou would just stay in Europe if his situation weren't resolved before the World Cup/start of camp.)

I see the ROCKETS more as contenders this year than the cavs... they have a year to go. Our play would make him shine... so. I want to make the possibility that he comes to play for Houston and help lead us win the NBA Championship this year.
We already have terry. Can he do anything better than terry at this point of there career? They're both just shooters now
Damn, I thought this was a new thread. A healthy and motivated Allen would be awesome for the second unit, but alas, it was not meant to be. At least we got Papa.
Yes. Space the floor better than Garcia and Papa definitely. You have to respect his shot, no matter his age. How fast can he get up and down the court is the question.
Garcia terry and ray is just ok much age... Gotta balance it. I rather Canaan keep gettng the developental minutes. It's bad enough he has terry and Beverley In Front of him. If we sign ray we might as well trade Canaan. He'll never see the floor consistently
Terry is a really good shooter. Ray is one of the all time greats. However, really not sure what he has left in the tank and we have much more pressing needs for our team than his particular skillset.
Curry, Thompson and Allen? That's not the Splash Bros. anymore. That's teh muthaeffin Splash Unholy Trinity.
