Can some please tell me if it's possible (hypothetically) to use the trade exception on Greg Monroe, then flip him at the trade deadline for Dragic? Basically can we flip Monroe into another player in the same year? Thx - Doc
I don't think he's available. Phoenix doesn't have much size on the wing, so he's very valuable to them.
Could we actually get Monroe (4.085) and brewer (4.5)? I know combo is slightly above the exception even with adding 100k But if you use it with two separate trades do you get to add the additional 100k per trade? So if broken in half you can actually increase it 200k? I may be way off here but could be possible Then trade Monroe and nop pick for dragic at feb trade deadline

I think once you use portion of the exception, the entire exception goes away after that trade regardless of the amount used. (I'm not an expert though, I just think I've read that somewhere before)

I'd be SMH if we acquire a player that gets flipped February 19 for someone we went after in July. Not that I'm saying it's gonna happen: Bosh repentant; or Melo's wife letting him leave for Houston. But it'd be ultimate Morey, wouldn't it? Count me out, will you? HAH! Here's hoping for a Channing Frye type to round out the roster.

Jason Thompson, Kris Humphries, Cody Zeller and Greg Monroe fit the biggest need right now. But we'll probably end up with Boozer, Brand or Thabeet. What ever happened to Anthony Randolph?
The Dec 19 date is aimed at the Feb 19 deadline. And the best-player-available strategy means the acquisition is not for fixing current needs. Whoever we are getting by Dec. 19 is likely going to change his zip code again in 60 days.
Getting Arron Afflalo and moving him to Phoenix in February for Dragic makes almost too much sense for all parties involved.
He's come a long way. He's not the same player he was during his last stint with us. He's instant offense off the bench. I'd take him in a heartbeat as depth for the 2/3 positions. Also, he's shot 40% from 3 this year and last while attempting 6 per game. Perfect fit IMO
Him and Dragic will be FA this offseason. They have a logjam at the 1/2 position. I expect either Dragic or Green to be traded before the deadline passes.
